Byungho Park: Signs deal in KBO
Park signed a $1.4 million deal with the Nexen Heroes in Korea, Jeeho Yoo of Yonhap News reports.
Park spent just two years with the Twins before deciding to re-join his old club in Korea. He played in Triple-A Rochester during the 2017 season, batting .253 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI in 419 at-bats. Park will likely enjoy greater success in Korea, having smashed 52 and 53 home runs in the two previous years he played for Nexen.

Twins' Byungho Park: Will work out in U.S. in offseason
Park will stay in Minnesota to work out in the offseason after a disappointing season that saw him hit just .253 with 14 home runs and a .723 OPS at Triple-A, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Park looked set to begin the season as Minnesota's DH after hitting six home runs with a 1.159 OPS in spring training. He failed to make the roster and was sent to Triple-A in a decision that was controversial at the time but looks like the right call given his struggles in the minors. With two years left on a four-year, $12 million deal it would seem likely that the Twins would try to trade him or that he would ask for a buyout and return to South Korea. However, this report would appear to indicate Park is set to remain in the U.S.

Twins' Byungho Park: Dealing with groin strain
Park was removed from Sunday's game with Triple-A Rochester with a groin strain, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Park was out the lineup for Monday's minor-league season finale, so he'll finish the year at Rochester with a .253/.308/.415 line in 111 games.

Twins' Byungho Park: Experimenting in left field
Park made his first career start in left field for Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
This is apparently the first time he has played in the outfield since he was nine years old, so it seems like a long shot that he would prove competent enough out there on defense to justify sticking there long term. Most importantly, Park is a 31-year-old who has been a league-average hitter (100 wRC+) with 10 home runs and a 30.1 percent strikeout rate at Triple-A, so he is simply not hitting enough to realistically profile at any corner spot.

Twins' Byungho Park: Struggling at Triple-A
Park is hitting just .226 with a .632 OPS and one home run in 13 games at Triple-A Rochester. He's just 6-for-37 with no walks in May.
Park was a star in major-league spring training with six home runs and a 1.159 OPS, but he didn't make the big-league roster. He then missed most of the first month of the season with a hamstring injury. He's struggled since his return and a trip back to the majors doesn't look like it's on the horizon.

Twins' Byungho Park: Reinstated from minor-league DL
Park (hamstring) was activated from the 7-day disabled list at Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.
Rochester released journeyman outfielder Quintin Berry to make room for Park, who had been sidelined since early April with the hamstring injury. Park had collected three extra-base hits in 18 plate appearances with Rochester before hitting the DL, but after the nearly month-long layoff, he'll likely need to hit well for a few weeks before receiving consideration for a promotion to the big club.

A minor hamstring injury has sidelined Park after a hot start at Triple-A Rochester, and it appears he's nearing a return. He'll get some time at High-A before progressing back to Triple-A, though he remains without a firm timetable.

Twins' Byungho Park: Hamstring strain deemed minor
Park's (hamstring) injury is regarded as a minor issue, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Park had gotten off to a hot start at Triple-A Rochester, and it seems like he'll be able to get back to building on that torrid start relatively soon. No firm timetable exists at this point, but according to Berardino, the prognosis seems to point toward a return relatively soon.

Twins' Byungho Park: Hits minor-league DL with strained hamstring
Park was placed on the 7-day DL on Tuesday with a strained right hamstring, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
He was off to a hot start at Triple-A Rochester, which should not come as a surprise, given his age (30). Park is still a candidate for a promotion to the majors at some point in the first half, but that will be delayed as a result of this injury. Kennys Vargas is healthy and also off to a solid start for Rochester, so he could be the first designated hitter to get the call if the Twins have a need.

Twins' Byungho Park: Sent to the minors
Park was reassigned to minor-league camp Thursday, LaVelle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Park had a chance to open the year as the team's starting DH, so it's surprising to see him sent down after a spring in which he had six home runs and a 1.159 OPS. The expectation is that he'll be back with the club at some point this season, though before that happens, the team will need to purchase his contract and add him to the 40-man roster.

Twins' Byungho Park: Heavy favorite to win DH job
Park will likely open the season as the Twins' starting DH, the Star Tribune's Phil Miller reports.
His contract has yet to be purchased after he was outrighted off the 40-man roster this offseason, but Park's dynamite spring has him poised to start the season as a fixture in the Twins' lineup. He is hitting .362 with five home runs (two more than any teammate) in 47 at-bats this spring. Kennys Vargas, who entered camp as the favorite to win the DH job, was gone for two weeks this spring at the World Baseball Classic and is now hobbled because of a bruised foot. Park's plus-plus raw power was evident even during last year's struggles, but his 32.8 percent strikeout rate looms as a cautionary signal for prospective buyers. It is possible that he could offer Chris Carter-esque production if he can hold the job all season.

Twins' Byungho Park: Hits fourth spring training home run
Park went 1-for-2 and and hit his fourth home run of the spring in Monday's win over Toronto.
Park has had an outstanding spring training, hitting .394 (13-for-33) and striking out in just 23 percent of his plate appearances (compared to 32.8 percent last year in the majors). Kennys Vargas began the spring as the leading candidate for the starting DH job, but Park may have overtaken him for the role. However, the competition may not be decided until the end of training camp since Vargas has missed time while playing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.
