Rockies' Mike Nikorak: Returns to mound for final month of season
Nikorak (elbow) pitched in the final month of the season with short-season Boise, compiling a 4.32 ERA across 8.1 innings.
Nikorak's clean bill of health allowed him to finally return to game action after missing the entire 2017 campaign due to Tommy John surgery. The results weren't overly encouraging, however, as he actually walked more batters in that span (11) than he struck out (10). Regardless, his health was the main concern this season. Now that his elbow is back to full strength, he'll focus on shoring up his performance heading into the 2019 campaign, when he figures to get his first shot with a full-season club.

Rockies' Mike Nikorak: Slowly progressing toward return to mound
Nikorak (elbow) is able to throw off flat ground and expects to pitch off a mound soon, Patti Arnold of The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports.
Nikorak, a first-round draft pick of the Rockies in 2015, underwent Tommy John surgery back in April of 2017. He had progressed to bullpen sessions during 2018 spring training, but encountered a setback and missed another month after receiving a platelet-rich injection in his elbow. He seems to be back on track now, though it seems like he's still a month or so away from returning to game action given that he has yet to return to the mound.

Rockies' Mike Nikorak: Missing 2017 due to TJ surgery
Nikorak underwent Tommy John surgery Wednesday and will miss the entire 2017 season, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Nikorak, the 27th overall pick in the 2015 draft, spent the past two seasons at rookie ball with limited success, but he had yet to pitch in 2017. He'll move his focus toward being ready for the 2018 season as he moves up Colorado's organizational ladder.
