Araujo, selected from the Cubs in the Rule 5 draft last year, was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Wednesday and had to be offered back to Chicago as he didn't spend enough time on the big-league roster in 2018. He'll now remain with the organization after a small trade was worked out, however. He made 20 appearances for Baltimore in 2018 and accrued a 7.71 ERA with 29 punchouts over 28 innings, and after a rough appearance to kick off 2019 (two runs allowed over 0.2 frames), he'll join the Baysox.

Araujo was a Rule 5 pick from the Cubs last season but hasn't looked like a major leaguer through 28.2 innings, posting an 8.16 ERA with a 14.2 percent walk rate. He spent a long time last season on the injured list with an elbow injury.
Araujo (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Tuesday.
The move is purely a procedural one, as Araujo has already been ruled out for the season with a right elbow sprain. It allows the Orioles to reinstate Andrew Susac (wrist) from the restricted list.

Araujo was selected by the Orioles in the Rule 5 draft in December, so he'll have to remain on the roster for the entire season or be offered back to the Cubs. Still, he seems to have made the team on merit, holding opposing hitters to a .138 average this spring and recording a 0.69 WHIP in 8.2 innings. In seven minor-league seasons, the 24-year-old has struck out 10.4 batters per nine innings while walking just 2.8. He's unlikely to get near the top of the closer depth chart, however, limiting his value in most fantasy formats.
