Rays' Carlos Colmenarez: Debuts in rookie ball
Colmenarez has gone 3-for-15 (all singles) through his first five pro games with the Rays' Dominican Summer League affiliate.
He made his debut in mid-August, and while he hasn't shown a whole lot statistically in this extremely tiny sample, it's worth noting that the 17-year-old shortstop has struck out just a single time while drawing two walks in his 21 plate appearances. At his tender age, the Rays are more concerned about his overall development than his statistical production, and fantasy managers should take a similar angle, as Colmenarez is considered one of the very best prospects from this past offseason's signing class.
