Giants' Ryan Murphy: Activated from IL
Double-A Richmond reinstated Murphy (elbow) from the 7-day injured list Sept. 23.
Murphy didn't make it back from the shelf before Richmond closed its season, but he at least made a rehab appearance at the High-A level earlier this month and looks on track to be back to full health for spring training. The right-hander covered just 42.1 innings in the minors in 2022 while contending with elbow and back injuries.

Giants' Ryan Murphy: Starts up rehab assignment
Murphy (elbow) made his first rehab appearance in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Aug. 20, pitching one inning while allowing one run on two hits.
Murphy hasn't made a rehab appearance in the ACL or at any other level since that Aug. 20 outing, so he might have experienced some sort of setback in his recovery from a right elbow injury. Before landing on Double-A Richmond's injured list in July following his promotion from High-A Eugene a couple weeks prior, Murphy was lit up for nine earned runs on nine hits and 10 walks in 8.2 innings between his first two starts for Richmond.

Giants' Ryan Murphy: Out with elbow inflammation
Murphy is on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Richmond with right elbow inflammation, Stephen Haynes of the Poughkeepsie Journal reports.
He has not pitched since tossing five shutout innings with five walks and three strikeouts on July 6. Murphy missed the first six weeks of the season with a back injury and gave up nine earned runs in 3.2 innings in his penultimate start before hitting the injured list, so it may have been something he initially tried to pitch through. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but he is without a timetable to return.

Giants' Ryan Murphy: Climbs to Double-A
The Giants promoted Murphy from High-A Eugene to Double-A Richmond on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old right-hander earned the bump up to Double-A after he submitted a 2.90 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB across 31 innings in his seven starts with Eugene. Murphy will join the Richmond rotation as a replacement for R.J. Dabovich, who was moved up to Triple-A Sacramento.

Giants' Ryan Murphy: Makes season debut
Murphy (back) made his season debut for High-A Eugene on Sunday, striking out seven and scattering one hit and one walk over four scoreless innings in a 10-0 win over Vancouver.
Murphy was sidelined for the first five weeks of the High-A season due to a back injury, but he looked plenty healthy Sunday in his 2022 debut. The 23-year-old right-hander dazzled over a sample of 31.1 innings at Eugene in 2021 -- he posted a 1.44 ERA and 0.68 WHIP while striking out 48 -- so a promotion to Double-A Richmond could come in short order.

Giants' Ryan Murphy: Out with back injury
Murphy, who was set to report to Double-A Richmond, is currently sidelined with a back injury, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.
One of the Giants' top pitching prospects, Murphy logged a 2.52 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 164 strikeouts in 107.1 innings at Low-A and High-A last year. He should spend most of the season at Double-A once healthy, but if he performs well he could finish the year at Triple-A.
