Rangers' Michael Matuella: Back in action
Matuella (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list over the weekend.
Matuella ended up missing two weeks with an undisclosed injury. The right-hander has made a pair of appearances for High-A Down East since being activated, allowing one run on one hit and one walk while striking out three over two innings in those outings.

Rangers' Michael Matuella: Pitching in relief
Matuella has transitioned from starter to reliever for High-A Down East, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
The organization made the move about a month ago when Matuella's ERA reached 9.17 over eight starts. The 6-foot-6 right-hander seems to be thriving with the move. He's allowed three runs while striking out 10 over his last six outings, spanning 10 innings.

Rangers' Michael Matuella: Throws five scoreless innings at Low-A
Matuella threw five scoreless innings in his start Friday with Low-A Hickory, yielding three hits and no walks and striking out four.
It was the longest outing of Matuella's career, as the Rangers continue to be conservative with the 23-year-old's workload coming off Tommy John surgery in April 2015. Matuella is still sporting an unremarkable 5.11 ERA over 37 innings this season, but his 36:7 K:BB and 66 percent strand rate suggest he's been the victim of some bad luck.

Rangers' Michael Matuella: Improving after early struggles
Matuella has given up 10 earned runs over 11.1 innings with 12 strikeouts and two walks for Low-A Hickory.
Matuella was shut down late last season with a strained elbow ligament, which was a worry since he had Tommy John surgery in 2015. While Matuella's overall numbers are ugly, he's had a good strikeout rate and has given up just one run over his last six innings over two appearances.
