  • Astros' Rylan Bannon: Sent to Triple-A

Bannon was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land by the Astros on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Bannon was battling for a spot on the Astros bench in spring training, but the 26-year-old will begin the season with the Space Cowboys instead. Bannon has a shot to be up with Houston this summer as a bench option, but is unlikely to be a regular with the club in 2023 or beyond.

  • Astros' Rylan Bannon: Picked up by Houston

The Astros claimed Bannon off waivers from the Cubs on Friday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. Two weeks after being claimed by the Cubs from Atlanta, Bannon will now be on the move to Houston. Bannon did well during his time in Triple-A last season, though it's hard to imagine him getting consistent playing time in the Astros' star-studded infield. If anything, he'll compete with Mauricio Dubon and David Hensley for reps as a backup infielder.

  • Cubs' Rylan Bannon: Claimed by Cubs

The Cubs claimed Bannon off waivers from Atlanta on Friday. Bannon spent the vast majority of last season in Triple-A, slashing .249/.367/.421 and collecting 77 RBI through 411 plate appearances. Infield depth was an issue for the Cubs last season, so it's possible that Bannon makes a few appearances for Chicago in 2023, but he will more than likely serve primarily as a minor-league piece.

  • Braves' Rylan Bannon: Sent down Saturday

Bannon was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. Bannon was called up by Atlanta on Sunday but saw minimal playing time during his stint with the major-league club. He'll head back to the minors after Ehire Adrianza (quadriceps) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Braves' Rylan Bannon: Recalled from Triple-A

Bannon was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. Bannon, who was claimed off waivers after getting designated for assignment by the Orioles a little over a month ago, will take the spot on the active roster of Ozzie Albies (fractured pinky). Bannon has hit .323/.432/.477 with two home runs and four steals in 20 games since joining Atlanta's organization.

  • Braves' Rylan Bannon: Claimed by Atlanta

Atlanta claimed Bannon off waivers from the Dodgers and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. Bannon finds a new home after the Dodgers designated him for assignment Friday. The infielder's only four games of MLB action came in May with the Orioles, and it would likely take more injuries in Atlanta's big-league infield for Bannon to get a call-up.

  • Dodgers' Rylan Bannon: Designated for assignment

Bannon was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Bannon was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Monday after being designated for assignment by the Orioles, but he didn't even get the chance to play in a minor-league game before he was designated again. As a 26-year-old with just four major-league games under his belt, he may not generate much interest on waivers this time around.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Called up to majors

The Orioles recalled Bannon from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday. Bannon was added to the 26-man roster as a replacement for reliever Mike Baumann, who was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk with Baltimore needing to reduce its pitching staff to 13 men ahead of Monday's MLB-imposed deadline. While he's up with the Orioles, Bannon is expected to serve as the primary backup at third base to Tyler Nevin, who is filling an everyday role at the position while Ramon Urias (oblique) is on the 10-day injured list.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Singles in debut

Bannon went 1-for-4 in a 3-2 win Thursday in St. Louis. Bannon batted seventh and played third base in his first major-league game. In his first at-bat, he singled off Steven Matz. He added a couple of nice plays at the hot corner, including robbing Nolan Arenado of a hit with an Arenado-esque play. The 26-year-old has spent time at Triple-A in each of his last three seasons, splitting his time between second and third base and amassing a .214/.319/.404 batting line at the minor league's highest level.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Called up for major-league debut

The Orioles recalled Bannon from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday and will have him start at third base against the Cardinals in his major-league debut, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Bannon first reached Triple-A back in 2019 but failed to make the push for a promotion until now. In 84 games at that level in 2021, he hit just .176/.297/.370, but he's improved to .235/.361/.382 in 29 games thus far this season. The 26-year-old lacks a standout carrying tool but could still do enough to matter in deeper leagues if he's able to carve out a role in an Orioles lineup that has plenty of holes.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Optioned to Norfolk

Bannon was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Bannon made eight Grapefruit League appearances this spring and went 4-for-12 with a home run, a double, four runs, four RBI, four walks and four strikeouts. He'll begin the regular season in the minors but will be in consideration to serve as major-league depth if he performs well in Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Shakes off oblique injury

Bannon (oblique) returned from the 7-day injured list Wednesday and has gone 1-for-7 with a double, two walks, three runs and a stolen base in his two games since returning to the Triple-A Norfolk lineup. Before being reinstated from the IL, Bannon made his return from a month-long absence at High-A Aberdeen, with whom he made six rehab appearances. The 25-year-old infielder is slashing .172/.242/.310 with two home runs and three steals across 95 plate appearances with the Orioles' top minor-league affiliate this season.

Bannon was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list with a left oblique strain Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Bannon appeared in 20 games for Triple-A Norfolk to begin the year and hit .175 with two home runs, five doubles and nine RBI during that time. It's not yet clear how much time the 25-year-old is expected to miss.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Optioned to Triple-A

Bannon was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports. The 24-year-old infielder hit .176 with two doubles, a steal and a 6:7 K:BB in 17 at-bats during Grapefruit League play. Capable of playing at both second and third, Bannon will likely make his MLB debut at some point this season if he performs well at Triple-A.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Added to 60-man roster

Bannon was added to the Orioles' 60-man roster Saturday. Bannon was a non-roster invitee during spring training, and he'll now get to develop at the team's alternate training site. The 24-year-old hit .333/.467/.667 with three extra-base hits and six strikeouts during spring training but hasn't been as productive in the minors.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Will join big-league camp

Bannon was invited to Baltimore's big-league camp Tuesday, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports. Bannon might not receive serious consideration for an Opening Day roster spot, as he's played just 20 games at the Triple-A level, but his debut will likely come at some point this season. If he can repeat his .317/.344/.549 line from those 20 games for Triple-A Norfolk last season, it won't be long before he gets his first taste of the big leagues. Bannon doesn't project as anything close to a star, but he has a decent bat and good plate discipline (12.2 percent career walk rate in the minors), which should eventually earn him at least a bench spot given his ability to play second and third base.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Promoted to Triple-A

Bannon was promoted to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. One of the players Baltimore received from the Dodgers in the Manny Machado trade last July, Bannon hit .255/.345/.394 (119 wRC+) with eight home runs and eight steals in 110 games at Double-A. At 23 years old, he is age appropriate for Triple-A.

  • Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Headed to Baltimore

Bannon was shipped to Baltimore as part of the Manny Machado trade, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. Bannon doesn't have a ton of prospect pedigree, having been selected 250th overall by the Dodgers in 2017, but he's done nothing but perform since becoming a pro. He posted a .336/.425/.591 line with 10 homers in 40 games for short-season Ogden last season and has followed that up with a .296/.402/.559 line and 20 homers in 89 games for High-A Rancho Cucamonga so far this year. He's still a few years away from challenging for a major-league roster spot.
