Padres' Josh Roberson: Latches on with Friars
Roberson signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Thursday.
Roberson went from the Rays to the Cubs in a trade this past August, but his tenure in Chicago's organization wound up being a brief one. The 27-year-old has displayed a penchant for both strikeouts and walks, most recently fanning 49 and walking 31 over 40 innings at the Triple-A level in 2023. He has never appeared in the majors.

Cubs' Josh Roberson: Dealt to Cubs
The Cubs acquired Roberson from the Rays on Tuesday in exchange for Adrian Sampson, Manuel Rodriguez and international free agent money, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Roberson was acquired by the Rays from the Marlins in May of 2022 and is on the move once again. The 27-year-old has spent this season at the Triple-A level and has a 5.45 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 43:23 K:BB across 36.1 innings.

Rays' Josh Roberson: Acquired by Rays
Roberson was traded from the Marlins to the Rays on Saturday as the player to be named later in the deal involving Louis Head, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Roberson has made seven appearances (one start) between Single-A Jupiter and Double-A Pensacola this year and has posted a 6.75 ERA and 2.70 WHIP in 6.2 innings. The right-hander will likely report to Double-A Montgomery to begin his time with his new organization.
