Rays' Marcus Johnson: Activated, assigned to High-A
Johnson (elbow) was assigned to High-A Bowling Green on Tuesday after being reinstated from Single-A Charleston's 60-day injured list. He debuted for Bowling Green on Wednesday, striking out one batter and allowing one hit and no walks over three scoreless innings.
Johnson had been sidelined for the first three-plus months of the season while recovering from surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow before he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League during the All-Star break. Over his three rehab outings in the FCL, Johnson struck out four batters across 4.2 scoreless innings.

Rays' Marcus Johnson: Out after elbow surgery
Johnson underwent surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow and was placed on the minor-league 60-day injured list Tuesday, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.
Johnson made 26 appearances at the Single-A level last season and had a 3.74 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 114:21 K:BB across 130 innings, but he won't be available to begin 2024. It's unclear how long the right-hander will be sidelined, but he'll miss at least the first two months of the season.
