  • Cubs' Brody McCullough: Opts for season-ending surgery

Double-A Knoxville placed McCullough (forearm) on its full-season injured list Friday after the right-hander opted for season-ending surgery, Greg Huss of NorthSideBound.com reports.

The Cubs haven't relayed whether McCullough's procedure was a Tommy John surgery or a flexor tendon repair surgery, but the right-hander won't pitch this season, and his availability for the start of the 2026 season would seem to be in jeopardy. McCullough will turn 25 years old later this month and has tossed just 14.2 total innings in the minors since the beginning of the 2024 season.

  • Cubs' Brody McCullough: On shelf with forearm injury

Double-A Knoxville placed McCullough on the 60-day injured list with a forearm injury, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

Knee and lat injuries limited McCullough to 14.2 innings in 2024, and now he'll miss at least a good chunk of 2025 with this forearm injury. The 24-year-old righty has the tools to start, but durability is becoming an issue that could push him to the bullpen long term.

  • Cubs' Brody McCullough: Lands on Double-A IL

Double-A Tennessee placed McCullough on its 7-day injured list Sunday with an unspecified injury.

McCullough opened the season on South Bend's 7-day injured list while he completed his recovery from offseason knee surgery, but he was activated April 19 and earned a quick promotion after delivering a 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB across 10.2 innings in three outings in the Midwest League. The 24-year-old right-hander impressed in his debut for Tennessee last Friday, striking out seven Chattanooga batters over four innings while allowing one run on three hits and one walk. However, he seems to have suffered another injury coming out of his Double-A debut, and it's unclear when he might be ready to return to the Tennessee rotation.

  • Cubs' Brody McCullough: Recovering from knee surgery

McCullough had offseason knee surgery but should be ready for game action with High-A South Bend sometime in May, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old righty logged a 4.25 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 36 innings across nine starts at High-A last season. McCullough's low-90s fastball plays up due to excellent movement, but he's still searching for a reliable secondary offering.
