White Sox's Andrew Romine: Earns spot in 60-man pool
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The White Sox announced Monday that Romine will be included as part of the team's 60-man roster pool.

Romine's positional flexibility should come in handy for the White Sox, though the 34-year-old probably isn't a serious candidate to see everyday at-bats at any point during the abbreviated season. Romine spent most of the 2019 campaign with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate at Lehigh Valley, slashing .289/.342/.408 with eight home runs and 21 steals across 417 plate appearances.

White Sox's Andrew Romine: Lands deal with White Sox
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Wednesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Romine spent the entire season in the minors last year after reaching the majors in the previous nine seasons. Over 106 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Romine hit .289/.342/.408 with eight home runs and 21 stolen bases. Given his past experience, it's likely that the 34-year-old will get to work in major-league spring training prior to the season.

Phillies' Andrew Romine: Back with Phillies
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Monday, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Romine opted to return to Philadelphia after being cut loose by the team last week. The veteran utility man owns a career .235/.291/.301 slash line across parts of nine major-league seasons and figures to operate as organizational depth.

Andrew Romine: Hits open market
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine was granted his release Thursday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

Romine was always a long shot to break camp with the Phillies given the team's impressive depth. The utility man, who owns a career .235/.291/.301 triple-slash across parts of nine big-leagues seasons, will now search for major-league opportunities elsewhere.

Phillies' Andrew Romine: Puts power on display
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's game against Minnesota.

Romine has had a successful start to camp, going 5-for-16 with a home run, four RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in the early going. He'll continue to gun for a spot on the Opening Day roster as a utility man throughout spring training.

Phillies' Andrew Romine: Lands in Philadelphia
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Friday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Romine is the classic journeyman utility player. He's gotten at least some big-league time for nine straight seasons with three different organizations but owns just a .235/.291/.301 career line and has only once received at least 300 plate appearances. The only time he's posted a wRC+ greater than 71 came in just 21 plate appearances back in 2012. He's played all nine positions at some point in his career, giving him multiple avenues onto the roster, but he's unlikely to play a significant role in Philadelphia this season.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Productive out of bottom of order
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run in a win over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Making a second consecutive start at the keystone in place of Dee Gordon (ankle), Romine managed to be productive by showing a discerning eye at the plate. The versatile veteran crossed the plate with the first run of the game for either club on Nelson Cruz's three-run home run in the third and has acquitted himself well at the plate over a small sample in August thus far. Factoring in Sunday's production, Romine has been on base four times (a single, a double, two walks), notched an RBI, and scored Sunday's run over three starts and one outing as an in-game defensive replacement.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Starting Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine is in Saturday's starting lineup, playing second base and batting eighth.

Romine is filling in for the injured Dee Gordon, who sustained an ankle injury Thursday. It's a rare start for Romine, who has just 11 at-bats since the All-Star break.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Makes most of spot start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine went 3-for-4 with two runs in a loss to the Red Sox on Friday.

Romine made plenty of noise out of the bottom of the order, posting his second multi-hit effort of the season. Romine has drawn the start at shortstop the last two games with Jean Segura battling an arm infection, but his playing time is usually sparse to say the least.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Raps out three hits in rare start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine went 3-for-5 with a run in a win over the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Romine drew his second start of May and parlayed it into his first multi-hit effort of the season. The veteran utility man's playing time has been exceedingly sporadic, as has his success with the bat. Even factoring in Thursday's strong performance and his scant 25 plate appearances on the season, his line remains an unsightly .174/.208/.217.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Named to Opening Day roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine has made the Mariners' Opening Day roster, Greg Johns of reports.

As expected, Romine will break camp with the Mariners in a super-utility role. Manager Scott Servais plans to use Romine liberally in order to keep his starters fresh, so the 32-year-old should see his fair share of action. Over 124 games with the Tigers in 2017, Romine hit a lackluster .233/.289/.336 across 348 plate appearances.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Projected to make final roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine is slated to be on the Mariners' Opening Day roster, although he's yet to be officially informed, Greg Johns of reports.

The jack-of-all-trades' versatility is apparently too good to pass up for manager Scott Servais, who plans to deploy Romine liberally in order to keep his starters fresh. The 33-year-old hit an uninspiring .225 with one home run and seven RBI over 45 spring plate appearances, but his considerable major-league experience and defensive versatility appear to have won him a spot to open the season.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Back in lineup Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine (shoulder) is in the lineup at shortstop against Milwaukee on Wednesday, Greg Johns of reports.

Romine has been sidelined for the past week with a partially dislocated left shoulder. The club was hopeful that he would only need a little time to recover from the injury, and it appears as though that was a sound line of thinking. There shouldn't be any concern over Romine's availability moving forward.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Aiming for Wednesday return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Mariners hope Romine (shoulder) will be available for Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Brewers, Greg Johns of reports.

Romine has been held out of exhibition play since March 13 while contending with the partially dislocated left shoulder. The Mariners don't appear too concerned about the injury and hope a week of rest will take care of the issue. Romine is competing with Taylor Motter this spring for the Mariners' top utility gig.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Diagnosed with shoulder subluxation
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine doesn't expect to miss much time after incurring a shoulder subluxation in Tuesday's spring game, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

The super utility man reportedly has dealt with this issue before, and the team isn't overly concerned since he missed just a handful of games the last time it happened. The plan is for Romine to simply rest for now and get evaluated again at a later date. A firmer timetable for his return should emerge once he's re-examined.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Injures shoulder Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine exited Tuesday's game against the Rockies after injuring his left shoulder while trying to make a tag at third base, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Romine took an awkward fall while attempting to make a play at third base and appeared to hurt his shoulder in the process. At this point in time, specific details regarding Romine's injury and eventual return are unavailable, although more should be known in the near future.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Knocks in run Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine went 0-for-3 with an RBI groundout in Monday's 4-2 Cactus League loss to the White Sox.

The veteran has been solid this spring, hitting .267 (8-for-30) with a double, a home run, six RBI, two walks, two stolen bases and two runs. Romine's experience and versatility give him a leg up on securing an Opening Day roster spot, considering he's capable of backing up virtually any position. His offensive contributions have never been much to write home about, but he showed some unexpected pop last season in Detroit -- Romine parlayed a career-high 348 plate appearances into a new high-water mark of 23 extra-base hits.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Avoids arbitration
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine agreed to a one-year, $1.05 million contract with the Mariners on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of reports.

A waiver acquisition from Detroit last month, Romine appeared in a career-high 124 games last season. He packs very little punch with the bat, as evidenced by his wRC+ marks ranging from 57-71 over the past five years (100 is average). However, he can literally play every position on the diamond, as he showed on the final day of 2017 -- Romine became the fifth player in history to play all nine positions in a single game.

Mariners' Andrew Romine: Claimed by Mariners
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine was claimed off waivers by Seattle on Thursday.

Romine hit .233/.289/.336 with four home runs and 25 RBI during 124 games with the Tigers this past season, and will join the Mariners as a super-utility man. The 32-year-old is set to be the fourth or fifth outfielder for Seattle, while filling in for Robinson Cano, Jean Segura and Kyle Seager in the infield when they need some rest.

Tigers' Andrew Romine: Takes seat Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Romine is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

Romine will get the day off after starting the previous two games for the Tigers, going 1-for-6 (.167) with a walk. Alex Presley will draw the start in left field in his place.
