Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Transferred to 45-day IL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez (left elbow pain) was transferred to the 45-day injured list Monday.

Sanchez gave up four earned runs on five hits and five walks in 5.1 innings (three appearances) before landing on the IL over the weekend. This move ends his 2020 season and it's unclear if Sanchez will be able to avoid surgery on his throwing elbow.

Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Placed on injured list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez was placed on the 10-day injured list with left elbow pain Saturday.

Sanchez allowed two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one over two innings Friday, but he apparently felt something during his appearance that will require a stay on the injured list. The exact nature and severity of the injury are unclear. The Cardinals called up several relievers to fortify their bullpen.

Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Called up as 29th man
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez was recalled by the Cardinals to serve as the 29th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Sanchez will be available to make his major-league debut Saturday. The Cardinals plan to have a bullpen game for the second game of the twin bill against the White Sox, which would give the southpaw the best chance to make an appearance. Even though the team is dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, Sanchez will likely return to the alternate training site following Saturday's doubleheader.

Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Set to join roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez will be added to the Cardinals' major-league roster for Saturday's doubleheader against the White Sox assuming they're cleared to play following their COVID-19 outbreak, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Sanchez tested positive for COVID-19 in mid-July but has recovered and is slated to join a big-league roster for the first time. According to Jones, Sanchez will take the 29th spot allocated to teams for doubleheaders, and thus figures to be sent back to the alternate training site following Saturday's games. That being said, the reliever could have a chance of making his big-league debut with the Redbirds going with a bullpen game for the back end of the doubleheader.

Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Shifts to injured list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez (illness) was placed on the injured list Saturday.

The 23-year-old tested positive for COVID-19 in early July and produced a second positive result July 12, forcing him to remain under quarantine. Manager Mike Shildt indicated at that time Sanchez was asymptomatic, but he still needs to produce two negative test results before joining the team. The left-hander was never likely to make the season-opening roster after posting a 4.44 ERA and 1.34 WHIP at Double-A Arkansas last season.

Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Another positive COVID test
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez produced a second positive COVID-19 test and consequently remains under quarantine, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. "Every day that goes by that they're not here is more of a challenge," manager Mike Shildt said about the players being ready for Opening Day. "The biggest two factors will be when they get here, that alone might [impact] their ability to start the season with us, but if they do get here, we still have an opportunity to work into ... how they look and how they can get ready without the feeling of rushing."

The southpaw initially tested positive during intake screenings for summer camp, and he evidently hasn't overcome infection more than 10 days later. Shildt did report Sanchez is asymptomatic, but he'll have to test negative twice within a 24-hour span before being allowed to join the team.

Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Tests positive for coronavirus
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez tested positive for COVID-19, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

It's not clear when Sanchez is expected to be able to join his teammates. The virus will undoubtedly affect his preparation for the upcoming season, though he wasn't particularly likely to play much of a role at the big-league level this year, as he's yet to reach Triple-A.

Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Sent to Double-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Cardinals optioned Sanchez to Double-A Springfield on March 7.

Though he changed organizations this offseason after joining St. Louis as a waiver pickup from Seattle, Sanchez will open 2020 at the same level he's spent most of the past two years. While covering 146 innings for Double-A Arkansas in 2019, the 22-year-old southpaw posted a 4.44 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 135:38 K:BB.

Cardinals' Ricardo Sanchez: Claimed by Cardinals
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals on Thursday.

Sanchez spent all of the 2019 season with Double-A Arkansas, making 27 starts and posting a 4.44 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 135:38 K:BB across 146 innings. Assuming he stays put, the 22-year-old southpaw figures to open the 2020 season with the Cardinals' Double- or Triple-A affiliate. In order to free up a 40-man spot for Sanchez, Ramon Urias was designated for assignment.

Mariners' Ricardo Sanchez: Optioned to Double-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez was optioned to Double-A Arkansas on Friday.

Sanchez remains in camp and on the 40-man roster, but he was never a serious candidate to break camp with the M's. He's yet to pitch above Double-A and hasn't been all that successful there, recording a decent but unimpressive 4.06 ERA in 13 starts for Mississippi last season.

Mariners' Ricardo Sanchez: Sent to Seattle
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez was traded from the Braves to the Mariners on Wednesday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Sanchez has found a new home after being designated for assignment by Atlanta earlier in the week. The 21-year-old southpaw spent time across multiple levels in 2018, posting a combined 3.79 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 73.2 innings.

Braves' Ricardo Sanchez: Dropped from 40-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez was designated for assignment by the Braves on Monday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Sanchez was cast off the team's 40-man roster Monday in order to clear room for the signing of backstop Brian McCann. The 21-year-old lefty posted a combined 3.79 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 73.2 innings across multiple levels in 2018. The southpaw will take a spin through waivers to determine his next landing spot.

Braves' Ricardo Sanchez: Joins 40-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez was added to Atlanta's 40-man roster Monday and will be protected from the Rule 5 draft.

Sanchez had a rocky season at High-A Florida. Over 22 games, 21 of them being starts, he struggled to the tune of a 4.95 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. With an abundance of promising arms in their farm system, Atlanta has no reason to rush Sanchez to a higher level, so it could be some time before he starts building much fantasy appeal.

Braves' Ricardo Sanchez: Very hittable at High-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez, 20, has a 4.48 ERA and 60:23 K:BB through 60.1 innings for High-A Florida.

Sanchez is striking out about one batter per inning, though the opposition is hitting a healthy .280 against the 5-foot-11 southpaw. Sanchez continues to battle control problems as well, and is likely to get overlooked in the pitching-rich Atlanta system.
