  • Dodgers' Austin Beck: Gets MiLB deal from Dodgers

Beck (knee) signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Saturday, J.P. Hoornstra of DodgersNation.com reports. Beck missed all of last season after tearing his ACL in March, but he is expected to be ready for the start of spring training. The 25-year-old outfielder appeared in rookie ball, High-A and Double-A in 2022, slashing .250/.304/.388 with 30 RBI across the three levels. Given Beck's extended absence from baseball, it's possible the Dodgers send him to one of their lower-level affiliates to begin the season with the goal of getting him back to Triple-A.

  • Athletics' Austin Beck: Done for season with ACL tear

Athletics director of player development Ed Sprague said Wednesday that Beck will miss the entire 2023 season after suffering an ACL tear earlier in camp, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports. A 2017 first-round draft pick, Beck has endured a number of health-related setbacks through his first six seasons in the professional ranks, and the torn ACL represents yet another roadblock in his development. The 24-year-old outfielder slashed .254/.304/.388 with nine home runs and three stolen bases across 68 games in 2022 between three different minor-league affiliates, topping out at Double-A Midland.

  • Athletics' Austin Beck: Running hot in Stockton

Beck is hitting .349 (15-for-43) with one home run, 12 RBI, two walks and 10 runs over his last 10 games with High-A Stockton, and he's slashing .263/.310/.450 overall across 52 games this season. The promising center fielder has displayed a well-rounded offensive profile with the Ports, as he's laced 15 doubles, three triples and six homers overall, helping lead to a solid 36 RBI. Beck's power numbers this season, while relatively modest, are still notable, considering he slugged just four round trippers across a combined 708 plate appearances in rookie-level and Low-A ball over his first two professional seasons.

  • Athletics' Austin Beck: Not raking in steals at Low-A

Beck is slashing .294/.337/.372 with a home run and five stolen bases across 350 plate appearances for Low-A Beloit this season. Though Beck was held in high esteem for his plus speed when the Athletics selected him out of high school in the first round of the 2017 first-year player draft, the 19-year-old has yet to churn out gaudy stolen-base totals. Through 524 career plate appearances, Beck has stolen only 12 bags in 17 attempts. The outfielder has at least shown better plate skills in 2018 after struggling to make contact at the rookie-ball level, but he'll need to make more of an impact with his baserunning to raise his long-term outlook as a fantasy asset.
