J.J. Avila: Good rebounding in defeat
Avila managed four points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block across 30 minutes in Saturday's 146-122 loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Avila finished as his team's joint leader in rebounds Saturday, but SLC was unable to slow down the Vipers' offense. Avila has been a consistent double-double threat this season as he's averaging 9.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

J.J. Avila: Good shooting off bench
Avila recorded 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt), eight rebounds, four assists and a steal across 26 minutes in Tuesday's 117-106 victory over the Memphis Hustle.
Avila posted a season-high in points and almost earned a double-double coming off the bench Tuesday. He's shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from deep while averaging 11.3 points in just seven G League appearances this season for Salt Lake City.

J.J. Avila: Double-double against Lakeland
Avila posted 18 points (8-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 10 rebounds and four assists across 27 minutes of Wednesday's 124-104 victory against the Lakeland Magic. He also had two blocks and two steals in the game.
Avila has been a valuable addition to Salt Lake City so far, averaging 10 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in his six appearances -- half of them coming off the bench. He's shooting a very efficient 64.7 percent form the court and 56.3 percent from three-point range this season.

Avila managed nine points (2-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds and one assist across 27 minutes in Tuesday's 123-97 victory against the Cleveland Charge. He also had a steal and a block in the game.
Avila has been used sparingly this season, with Tuesday's game being just his fifth appearance of the season. But he put in a very solid and well-rounded shift against Cleveland, and he's making more than 60 percent of his shots from the field and from three-point range for the Stars.

Avila managed 12 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and one steal across 25 minutes in Monday's 121-114 defeat against the South Bay Lakers.
Avila made his first appearance of the season on Monday and he played very well coming off the bench. The 30-year-old has six seasons and 192 G League games of experience under his belt, and he could be a valuable addition to a struggling Salt Lake City team.

Avila had nine points (3-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four steals, two assists and two rebounds across 19 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's win over Salt Lake City.
Avila came close to reaching the 20-minute mark for the first time this season and made the most of the opportunity, recording season-high marks for points and steals. He will need a few more performances like this to sniff a bigger role in the rotation going forward -- something that would translate into bigger upside across all formats as well.

Avila (hip) did not play in Thursday's win over the Swarm.
Four different Agua Caliente players were unable to suit up Tuesday, with the likes of Avila, Anthony Bennett (knee) and Angel Delgado (back) chipping away at the team's frontcourt depth. At least in the case of Avila, the forward has only been a minor rotational piece for the Clippers, averaging 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 28 games with the club this season.

Avila saw only 13 minutes of run in the loss. This is the forward's third year in the G League and, unfortunately, his minutes per game have been declining each season. Avila has appeared in nine games this season, all off the bench, averaging only 10 minutes per game.

J.J. Avila: Waived by Bulls
Avila was waived by the Bulls Friday.
Avila was an undrafted free agent from 2015 and played for the Knicks during summer league before signing a training camp deal with the Bulls. He was used as no more than an extra body for Chicago to have during training camp and will likely need to look overseas for an opporunity to play professionally.
