The Bears officially hired former Broncos coach John Fox for their coaching vacancy. He will be the 15th coach in franchise history.
CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora had previously reported Fox had accepted the job with the Bears. Fox's contract will be for four years, according to FOX Sports.
It was first reported Thursday by Bleacher Report that the Bears were going to hire Fox as their head coach.
Fox will replace Marc Trestman, who was fired in late December after two seasons as coach. The Bears will be Fox's third coaching job. He spent nine seasons with the Panthers from 2002-10 and the last four seasons with the Broncos.
Fox has a 119-89 coaching record. He has been to the playoffs seven times as coach. He led Carolina to the NFC title in 2003 and Denver to the AFC title in 2013. He is 8-7 in the postseason and 0-2 in the Super Bowl.
