Jones-Quartey signed a contract with the Chiefs on Thursday, Brooke Pryor of The Kansas City Star reports.
Jones-Quartey is entering his fifth season in the league but hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2016 when he was with Chicago. That season, the Findlay product recorded 78 tackles, five pass breakups and one pick in 16 games.

Jones-Quartey (ankle) was waived by the Bears on Saturday, Patrick Finley and Adam L. Jahns of the Chicago Sun Times reports.
The move is relatively surprising, as Jones-Quartey started 12 games for the Bears last season. However, with a plethora of safety options the team has opted to go elsewhere. Although he did not make enough of an impression in Chicago's camp, the 24-year-old presumably has a good chance to be claimed off waivers by another team.

Jones-Quartey posted seven stops in Sunday's loss to the Vikings, to give him 78 tackles and one interception on the season.
Jones-Quartey ended the season on a high note, as he recorded at least six tackles in four of his last five games, but on the year he averaged fewer than five stops per contest. He'll enter 2017 in the second of a three-year contract, but unless he can increase his ability to make big plays, he'll continue to be a marginal IDP option.

Jones-Quartey appeared in 13 games, including four starts, as a rookie in 2015, but after the Bears spent a fourth-round draft choice to select Deon Bush, the second-year player will face stiff competition to become the team's starting strong safety. He recorded 29 tackles to go along with a forced fumble and an interception last year, and he'll need to continue improving upon his physical style of play during the preseason games, as he tries to earn a role that could result in plenty of tackles in the Bears' upgraded defense.

Jones-Quartey will make a second straight start at safety in Sunday's game against the Lions, Bob LeGere of the Daily Herald reports.
Antrel Rolle remains sidelined with an ankle injury, allowing the undrafted rookie to see additional defensive snaps. Jones-Quartey finished with a modest four tackles in the Week 5 win over the Chiefs, and he'll probably need to double that output over a span of multiple weeks before he gains much traction as an IDP option.
