Whitney signed a reserve/future contract with Arizona in January after finishing the season on the practice squad, but he won't have a chance at making the season-opening roster. He hasn't seen game action since 2017, when he appeared in two contests with the Raiders.

Whitney reportedly injured his hand in a one-on-one drill against Bradley Roby. It's unclear just how serious the issue is or how long the 25-year-old will need to recover. Whitney was promoted to the Raiders' active roster Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The undrafted rookie out of USC will make his NFL debut this Sunday against the Giants after spending the preseason with Raiders before being signed to the practice squad prior to Week 1. Don't expect Whitney to see many offensive reps, as he will be the fifth wideout on the depth chart -- but with Michael Crabtree suspended and Amari Cooper (concussion, ankle) not at full strength, Whitney could get an opportunity at some point during the contest.
