  • Bears' Robert Tonyan: Joining Chicago

Tonyan agreed Thursday with the Bears on a one-year deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Tonyan, who logged a career-high 53 catches (on 67 targets) for 470 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games with the Packers last season, adds quality depth to a Chicago tight end corps that also includes returning starter Cole Kmet. The duo will provide QB Justin Fields with a pair of solid pass catchers at the position, but the prospect of a timeshare with Kmet caps Tonyan's fantasy upside ahead of the coming season.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Catches three passes in loss

Tonyan caught all three of his targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Lions. The veteran tight end was on the field for 37 of the Packers' 60 offensive snaps and was unable to produce much for fantasy purposes with his opportunities. He finished the season with 53 catches for 470 yards and two touchdowns. Fantasy managers thinking that Tonyan would become a bigger factor in 2022 with the departures of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling were met with great disappointment, as the 28-year-old was typically an afterthought in Green Bay's inconsistent aerial attack. After inking a one-year, $3.75 million contract with Green Bay last offseason, Tonyan is set to become a free agent in the spring.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Breaks TD drought Sunday

Tonyan caught three of four targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-17 win over the Vikings. The veteran tight end was on the other end of Aaron Rodgers' only TD pass of the day, a 21-yard toss in the second quarter that gave the team a 24-3 lead. Tonyan snapped an 11-game scoring drought in the process, as his only other trip to the end zone this season came in Week 4, while his 52 receiving yards represented his best performance since Week 6. He's now three catches short of breaking his career high of 52, a personal record he'll try to set in a must-win Week 18 clash with the Lions.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: One reception in third straight

Tonyan was targeted twice and caught one pass for 13 yards in Sunday's 26-20 victory over the Dolphins. Tonyan played the most snaps among Packers tight ends as he usually does, but he finished with just a lone reception for a third straight week and was surprisingly outperformed by Marcedes Lewis. One game was not enough to drop Tonyan behind Lewis when it comes to fantasy options, but it will make it even tougher to trust him in Week 17.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Finishes with just four yards

Tonyan was targeted twice and caught one pass for four yards in Monday's 24-12 victory over the Rams. Tonyan led Packers tight ends in snaps for a ninth game in a row, but he also was on the field for fewer than 60 percent of the plays run by the Packers offense for the fourth time in as many contests, and he finished with a season low in the receiving yards column. In Week 16, Tonyan and the Packers will take on a Dolphins team that allowed opposing tight ends to score six touchdowns over its last six games, but it's tough to envision him capitalizing, as he has scored just once all season and averaged 1.6 receptions and 12.2 yards over his last five appearances.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Another quiet appearance

Tonyan was targeted twice and caught one pass for 10 yards in Sunday's 28-19 victory over the Bears. Tonyan played at least 51 percent of the snaps for a fourth straight week, but as was the case in the previous three games he made only a minor mark in the box score. His recent output certainly does not inspire any confidence, but he at least will have an appealing matchup for the first time in a while when Green Bay returns from its Week 14 bye, as he and the Packers will face a Rams defense that has had trouble with opposing tight ends in recent weeks.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: No game status for Week 12

Tonyan (illness) won't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game in Philadelphia, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports. Tonyan sat out Thursday's practice on account of the illness, but he returned to the field Friday as a full participant to erase any concern about his health. He'll handle his usual duties Sunday as the Packers' starting tight end, but the role hasn't been as fruitful as some might have anticipated heading into the season. Though he's suited up in each of Green Bay's first 11 games, Tonyan has found the end zone only once and is averaging 3.7 catches and 31.1 receiving yards per contest.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: TEs to Sit

Tonyan hasn't been the factor in the passing game that I hoped for this season, and he comes into Week 12 at the Eagles having scored eight PPR points or less in five games in a row. He also has just one touchdown on the season. The Eagles have allowed three tight ends to score at least 10 PPR points this season but none since Week 6. There's little reason to trust Tonyan at this point in the majority of leagues.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Misses Thursday's practice

Tonyan sat out Thursday's practice due to an illness, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Tonyan practiced fully Wednesday, so the tight end's addition to the Packers' injury report Thursday makes his status worth tracking ahead of Sunday's game against the Eagles. If Tonyan is unable to play this weekend, added passing targets would be available for some combination of Josiah Deguara, Marcedes Lewis and Tyler Davis.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: TEs to Sit

Tonyan disappeared against the Cowboys in Week 10 with just one catch for 8 yards on one target. He's scored eight PPR points or less in four games in a row, and it's tough to trust him in Week 11 against the Titans. Tennessee is No. 5 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends, but that's mostly from Mo Alie-Cox (26 PPR points in Week 4) and Travis Kelce (20 PPR points in Week 9) doing most of the damage. Tonyan only has one touchdown on the season, so it's hard to count on him scoring in this matchup.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Two receptions in Week 11

Tonyan was targeted four times and caught two passes for 19 yards in Thursday's 27-17 loss to the Titans. Tonyan played more than twice as many snaps as any other Packers tight end, but as has typically been the case this season, he made only a minor mark in the box score. Things may not change in the weeks ahead, as the Packers' next two opponents -- the Eagles and Bears -- both rank top 10 in the league against tight ends heading into their Week 11 matchups.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Catches one pass against Cowboys

Tonyan was targeted once and caught one pass for eight yards in Sunday's 31-28 overtime victory over the Cowboys. Tonyan had at least four targets in five straight games heading into Sunday's contest, but he was an afterthought in the offense Week 10 and finished with seasons lows in all of the target, reception and yardage categories. He will have a chance to get back on track Week 11 against a Titans defense that ranks second-to-last in the league against the pass, but note that the bulk of the yards they have given up have been accumulated by wide receivers.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: TEs to Sit

I thought Tonyan would play well in Week 9 at Detroit, but he let me down with just three catches for 29 yards on four targets. He's now combined for just 19 PPR points in his past three games against Washington, Buffalo and Detroit, and he only has one touchdown on the season. The Cowboys have allowed just one touchdown to a tight end all season and one to score double digits in PPR, which was Tyler Higbee in Week 5. I'm not expecting a big performance from Tonyan in this matchup.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Reined in by Detroit

Tonyan was targeted four times and caught three passes for 29 yards in Sunday's 15-9 loss to the Lions. Tonyan drew at least four targets for a fifth straight game and garnered a couple looks close to the goal line, but he finished with fewer than 30 yards for the fourth time this season and was held out of the end zone for the eighth time in nine appearances. He will have a tough time getting on track in Week 10 against a speedy Dallas defense that has contained tight ends as well as anyone, but quarterback Aaron Rodgers may need to look Tonyan's way more often anyway if the Packers are short-handed at wide receiver.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: TEs to Start

Tonyan loves facing the Lions. In his past three meetings against Detroit going back to 2020 he has three touchdowns, with one in each outing. Tonyan has only scored one touchdown this season, so he's due to find the end zone again, and the Lions have allowed four touchdowns to tight ends in their past four games.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Week 9 Streamers (TE Preview)

Tonyan may just be Aaron Rodgers' No. 1 target in Week 9 if Allen Lazard remains out. He has one touchdown on 42 targets this season. He had 15 touchdowns on 109 career targets coming into this season. There is regression coming.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Grabs five receptions in loss

Tonyan caught five of six targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 27-17 loss to Buffalo. Tonyan actually led all Green Bay receiving options with his five snags Sunday, but most of his receptions were outlet passes. The veteran tight end did have a touchdown called back when he knocked his defender down in order to get wide open in the end zone. Tonyan is averaging six receptions and 52.3 yards over his last three games. The recent uptick in production coupled with a soft matchup against the Lions next Sunday should give Tonyan some starting appeal Week 9.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: TEs to Sit

The Bills have been amazing at defending tight ends again this season, and Tonyan should have another rough game. Travis Kelce had eight catches for 108 yards on 10 targets against Buffalo in Week 6, but the Bills have yet to allow a touchdown to the position, including matchups with Tyler Higbee, Mike Gesicki, Mark Andrews and Pat Freiermuth. And all of those tight ends were held to eight PPR points or less. Tonyan, who has just one touchdown this season, isn't worth trusting in this matchup.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: Limited in Week 7 loss

Tonyan was targeted four times and caught three passes for 32 yards in Sunday's 23-21 loss to the Commanders. Tonyan set season highs for targets, receptions and yardage in Week 6, but he was held in check Sunday by a Washington defense that has made a habit of shutting down tight ends this season. The matchup won't get any easier the next time out, as Tonyan will take on a Bills team that has been nearly as stingy against tight ends as the Commanders and has not allowed any player at that position to find paydirt this season.

  • Packers' Robert Tonyan: TEs to Start

Tonyan broke out in Week 6 against the Jets with 10 catches for 90 yards on 12 targets. He's now scored at least 10 PPR points in two of his past three games, and this is a guy Aaron Rodgers seems to trust. He's worth trusting as a No. 1 Fantasy tight end in Week 7 against the Commanders even in a tough matchup.
