The Buccaneers waived Renner (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Monday, per the NFL's official transactions log.
Renner reverted to Tampa Bay's injured reserve after going unclaimed on waivers mid-August, but he'll now be eligible to seek a role with another team this season, when healthy.

Renner was initially let go, but that was likely just a logistical move with full intention to retain Renner on injured reserve.

Sam Renner: Let go by Tampa Bay
Renner (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Buccaneers on Thursday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Renner was let go because the Buccaneers needed to re-sign guard Earl Watford and had to make space for him on the roster. It's unknown what injury the 24-year-old defensive tackle has, but it will be tough for him to latch onto a roster spot until his injury is resolved.
