Optimism abounds for the No. 1 overall pick, who will begin his NFL career playing within an infrastructure built by a coach who flashed signs of competence despite poor QB play in 2024. Brian Callahan engineered a diverse run game and a variety of play action looks to boost the passing efficiency. The OL will almost certainly be better in 2025, and Ward will probably provide a huge upgrade over the contributions of Will Levis and Mason Rudolph. Tennessee's 30th ranking in terms of Fantasy points per dropback illustrates just how massive of an improvement Ward would have to provide for this to become a desirable Fantasy QB profile, though. Betting markets project the Titans for just the 28th-highest implied point total in 2025. Passing touchdowns may be hard to come by. Within this framework, a miraculous effort from Ward will be required for even top-20 Fantasy QB production to result. Ward is only worth targeting in Superflex/two-QB formats.

Titans' Cam Ward: Splitting reps evenly with Levis
Rotowire
Titans head coach Brian Callahan said Tuesday that Ward and Will Levis have split practice reps evenly throughout Phase 2 of the team's offseason activities, Turron Davenport of ESPN reports.
Callahan said Tennessee's quarterback reps "will probably change a little when when we get to the next phase of OTAs and there's some 7-on-7 [drills]," while also noting that Ward's selection at No. 1 overall and Levis' status as an incumbent starter haven't been the cause of any conflict at practice. Some amount of competition with Levis figures to be beneficial for Ward, who is still in the early stages of acclimating to a new offense and building chemistry with Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett, Treylon Burks (ACL) and Van Jefferson. Callahan said it would be premature to name a starter at this stage of the offseason, but it would nonetheless be surprising if it takes Ward long to earn a dominant share of first-team reps. The Titans are slated to conduct six OTAs between May 27 and June 5 before kicking off a three-day mandatory minicamp June 12. Ward may be able to push for increased reps during those dates, but the most pivotal period of his rookie development will occur during training camp and the preseason. Regardless of whether Levis remains on Tennessee's roster or draws trade interest, it seems like a sure thing that Ward will start the Titans' regular-season opener against Tampa Bay.

Titans' Cam Ward: Picked first overall by Tennessee
Rotowire
The Titans selected Ward in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, first overall.
Ward (6-foot-2, 219 pounds) is far from a conventional first overall pick, because he was a non-entity as a recruit and truly had to work his way up through the minors by playing at Incarnate Word (2020-21) and Washington State (2022-23) before dominating in his one season at Miami in 2024. Ward only earned admiration at each stop, but his one year with the Hurricanes was arguably his finest work in his five collegiate seasons, as he completed 305 of 454 pass attempts for 4,313 yards (9.5 YPA) with 39 passing touchdowns to just seven interceptions. Ward might not be a prolific runner in the NFL, but at the very least he is functionally mobile from the pocket, where he shows an uncommon ability to evade pressure and uncork ambitious big-play shots downfield. Although the Titans are still rebuilding and don't offer the most comfortable team context for a rookie quarterback, they have made substantial investments in their offensive line the past two offseasons, and could suddenly be a well-composed offense if they could just secure one or two quality route runners to add to a wideout rotation that is otherwise headlined by Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett and Treylon Burks (ACL). Even if Will Levis remains on hand through training camp, Ward is a near lock to start Week 1 for the Titans.
