Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Should be ready for OTAs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady underwent successful knee surgery last week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said that Brady was merely having a clean-up procedure, but Rapoport relays that the surgery was slightly more significant than Arians indicated. Nevertheless, Brady is expected to be ready to go if the league allows the offseason program to begin in May or June, and he'll certainly be 100 percent for the start of the 2021 season. As Brady heads into his age-44 season, he faces some uncertainty with the talent that will be surrounding him, as the likes of Leonard Fournette, Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown or Chris Godwin are all pending free agents.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Scheduled for minor surgery
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady will have offseason surgery to address discomfort in his knee, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

This doesn't sound like anything serious that would still be a problem in August or September, but it is possible Brady misses offseason practices if the Bucs are able to hold any. All signs point to the veteran QB sticking around for 2021, his age-44 season, leading a star-studded team that has a bunch of key players scheduled for free agency. The group includes Leonard Fournette, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski, though the latter doesn't seem inclined to play for any team besides Tampa Bay.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Efficient, mistake-free in SB win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 21 of 29 passes for 201 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions during the Buccaneers' 31-9 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV on Sunday. He also netted minus-1 yard on four carries and committed a fumble that he recovered.

While the passing yardage was positively ordinary, it doesn't come close to telling the tale of how effective Brady was in his 10th Super Bowl appearance. The future Hall of Famer's vast experience in the highest-stakes game of the year was evident during a highly efficient first half in which Brady compiled all three of his passing touchdowns. The 43-year-old connected with Rob Gronkowski for scoring tosses of eight and 17 yards before hitting Antonio Brown from one yard out just before halftime. With the Buccaneers holding a 21-6 lead to open the second half, coach Bruce Arians then increasingly leaned on the running game and his suffocating defense, which negated the need to go with a pass-heavy approach at any point during the second half. Despite a relatively quiet last two quarters, Brady's seventh Super Bowl title still saw him turn in one his trademark mistake-free performances. Every indication is that Brady will return for his 22nd season in 2021, and in fact, there's already talk a contract extension may be in the works.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Could play beyond 2021?
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady suggested Monday that he could continue playing in the NFL after his current contract expires, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

Currently in the first season of a two-year contract, Brady is one win away from his seventh Super Bowl ring. Both Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski have hinted at staying in Tampa Bay for the 2021 campaign, and it now sounds like the legendary QB could stick around even longer. As for the immediate future, Brady will face the Chiefs on Sunday, becoming the first QB to start a Super Bowl in his home stadium.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Works through picks in historic win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 20 of 36 passes for 280 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions in the Buccaneers' 31-26 win over the Packers in Sunday's NFC Championship Game. He also lost a yard on a game-ending kneel-down play.

Brady and the Buccaneers navigated more than their fair share of adversity throughout the hard-fought victory, and the future Hall of Famer personally had to endure a trio of interceptions in the second half that helped bring the Packers back into the game and change the dynamic of what appeared to be turning into a rout after Brady's third touchdown pass. The turnovers somewhat marred the 43-year-old's final stat line, but he still leveraged his unmatched experience in high-stakes postseason games to calmly connect with Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski for critical completions of 11 and 29 yards on a mid-fourth-quarter drive that lead to a crucial Ryan Succop field goal which extended the lead back to eight points. Brady finished the team's three-game postseason road path to a homefield Super Bowl with multiple touchdown passes in each playoff contest, and he and his teammates will now ready themselves to face either the Bills or Chiefs in two weeks at Raymond James Stadium.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Efficient in divisional-round win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 18 of 33 passes for 199 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 30-20 divisional-round win over the Saints on Sunday. He also rushed five times for two yards and another score and fumbled once but recovered.

Leading an impressive balanced attack against a stingy all-round defense, Brady managed to stay away from any turnovers and managed the limited presence of Antonio Brown to help the Buccaneers notch the tough road win. Brady was able to turn in serviceable numbers despite top targets Chris Godwin and Mike Evans combining for just five receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown (Evans), with the future Hall of Famer improvising by heavily relying on Cameron Brate and Leonard Fournette (nine combined catches). Fournette and Ronald Jones also helped keep New Orleans' defense honest, and Brady himself was able to notch the game-sealing score with a one-yard sneak with just under five minutes remaining. Consequently, Tampa Bay is set for a conference-championship showdown against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in Lambeau Field on Sunday.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Hits big plays in playoff win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 22 of 40 passes for 381 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 31-23 wild-card win over Washington on Saturday night.

The veteran of so many postseasons in New England unsurprisingly looked right in his element Saturday, showing good command against a tough Washington defense and remaining aggressive throughout. Brady recorded at least one pass of over 20 yards to five different pass catchers, and he worked around some uncharacteristic drops on the part of Chris Godwin to still pile up an impressive yardage total on just 22 completions. Dating back to Week 10 of the regular season, Brady has now eclipsed 340 passing yards in six of his last eight games while also throwing multiple touchdown passes in all eight contests in that sample. The future Hall of Famer will look to put together another impressive performance in a divisional-round contest next weekend.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Sensational tune-up for postseason
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 26 of 41 passes for 399 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in the Buccaneers' 44-27 win over the Falcons on Sunday. He also gained three yards on five rushes.

Despite losing Mike Evans to what might be a serious knee injury in the first quarter, Brady was undeterred, pivoting frequently to Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown for yet another spectacular statistical haul. The future Hall of Famer ultimately racked up a season-high yardage total, eclipsing the 300-yard mark for the fourth time in the last five games. His rapport with Brown -- who hauled in 11 of 14 targets for 138 yards and half of Brady's four touchdowns -- was especially encouraging, considering the elevated role the former Steeler star could be in line for in the postseason. Jenna Laine of reports Evans will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of his injury, but as Brady demonstrated Sunday, he's capable of compiling stellar numbers with his remaining healthy pass-catching weapons.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Expected to play Week 17
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady is expected to start Sunday against the Falcons, despite the Buccaneers having already clinched a postseason spot, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

Though the Buccaneers have locked up a postseason berth, playoff positioning is still at stake, so Brady will be back under center for the regular-season finale. A loss Week 17 would bump the Bucs down to the No. 6 seed in the NFC, which would require the team to play a road game in Green Bay, New Orleans or Seattle in the wild-card round, pending the results of Sunday's action. Conversely, a win would secure the No. 5 seed for the Bucs, who would visit the NFC East winner (Dallas, Washington or New York), all teams that will finish with sub-.500 records. Auman noted that even if Brady starts, the 43-year-old won't be a lock to play the full game, especially if the result is firmly in hand during the second half.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Record-setting effort in one half
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 22 of 27 passes for 348 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 47-7 win over the Lions on Saturday. He was replaced by Blaine Gabbert to start the second half.

The dominance of Brady and his offensive teammates was such that the future Hall of Famer's presence was only required for one record-setting half. Brady's passing yards were the most of any first half in his career and spearheaded a new Buccaneers team record of 410 total first-half yards as well. Additionally, the 43-year-old became the only other quarterback besides Baker Mayfield with four scoring tosses in a half this season, and his 36 touchdown passes on the campaign equal his best figure in that category since 2011. Brady notably spread the wealth as well, with his end-zone connections occurring with the quartet of Rob Gronkowski, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown. With a postseason berth now officially in hand, Brady will look to tune up for what he and the Bucs hope will be a deep playoff run in a Week 17 home divisional battle against the Falcons.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Racks up numbers in second half
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 31 of 45 passes for 390 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 31-27 win over the Falcons on Sunday. He also netted minus-2 yards on two rushes.

Down 17-0 at the half, the Buccaneers unsurprisingly came out aggressive after halftime to the benefit of Brady's numbers. The future Hall of Famer finished with a season-high yardage figure while throwing multiple touchdown passes for the fifth consecutive contest. Brady finally connected with Antonio Brown for a score as well, with their 46-yard connection with 6:19 remaining proving to be the difference in the contest. The 21-year veteran now has five 300-yard efforts on the campaign and will look to carry over the momentum in a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Lions.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Efficient, mistake-free in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 15 of 23 passes for 196 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 26-14 win over the Vikings on Sunday. He also netted minus-2 yards on three rushes.

Coming out of a bye week where Brady and coach Bruce Arians had to deal with plenty of questions about the future Hall of Famer's uneven performance thus far in the offense, the legendary signal-caller didn't exactly dispel his doubters with his numbers, and he missed a couple of open receivers by a fairly wide margin in the first half as well. However, the 21-year veteran progressively settled in and eventually connected with Scotty Miller and Rob Gronkowski for his pair of scoring tosses. Brady curiously didn't target any pass catcher more than five times while putting up a season-low number of attempts, but he still extended a streak of multiple touchdown passes to four games. Having righted the ship to an extent on both an individual and team level after losing two straight, Brady will look to parlay the momentum into even better numbers in a favorable matchup against the division-rival Falcons in Week 15.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Hangs tough in losing effort
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 27 of 41 passes for 345 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in the Buccaneers' 27-24 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. He also lost a yard on his one rush.

Brady's final line was solid from a fantasy perspective, though he only began to really hit his stride in the latter stages of the first half. The 21-year veteran broke the ice with a 37-yard scoring toss to Ronald Jones, and he then made things interesting with a pair of touchdown passes to Mike Evans in the fourth quarter. However, ball security also continued to be an issue, with Brady short-circuiting a pair of third-quarter drives with interceptions. The future Hall of Famer did at least finish the game with some momentum by spearheading 75- and 73-yard scoring marches, and it remains to be seen if he'll be able to carry over the momentum into a Week 14 home battle against the Vikings following a Week 13 bye.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Struggles in close loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 26 of 48 passes for 216 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Monday night's 27-24 loss to the Rams.

Brady struggled to stretch the field and dealt with significant pressure over the course of Monday's contest against an impressive Rams defense. Along with having another would-be interception dropped, Brady set new season lows in yards per passing attempt (4.5) and completion percentage (54.2) while attempting more passes than in any other game this year, as the Bucs were stymied on the ground as well. On the bright side, Brady showed continued chemistry with Antonio Brown and got both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin touchdowns, representing building blocks ahead of an enticing Week 12 meeting with the Chiefs.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Atones with massive numbers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 28 of 39 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 46-23 win over the Panthers on Sunday. He also rushed twice for two yards and another score.

Looking to put an embarrassing 38-3 loss to the Saints behind them, Brady and his teammates got off on the wrong foot when Ronald Jones lost a fumble on the Buccaneers' second play from scrimmage. However, the future Hall of Fame signal-caller eventually got his team settled down with a 10-play, 75-yard scoring march, and he spearheaded another pair of 70-plus-yard drives that culminated in 10 additional points before halftime. Brady appeared to have a bit too much mustard on the ball on a few occasions, but he still managed to record at least four touchdowns for the third time on the campaign. The 21-year veteran also encouragingly distributed the ball around effectively to his top receiver trio, hitting Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Antonio Brown for 19 of his 28 completions. Brady and the Bucs will look to carry over Sunday's momentum into a Week 11 Monday night showdown against the Rams.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Forgettable performance on SNF
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 22 of 38 pass attempts for 209 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions in Sunday's 38-3 loss to the Saints.

This was quite possibly the worst performance of Brady's illustrious career. Coach Bruce Arians and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich could not scheme up anything against the Saints' defense. The handful of times a Buccaneer receiver beat his assignment, Brady simply failed to hit his targets in stride, resulting in ugly drops and three interceptions. The future Hall of Famer entered the contest with a 66.2 completion percentage and a 20:4 TD:INT, so as his former coach says, it's "on to the next game" for those with shares in any Tampa Bay offensive players. Brady will get a strong opportunity to make up for this dud in a favorable matchup against Carolina's 20th-ranked passing defense Sunday.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Throws two touchdowns
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 28 of 40 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns in Monday night's 25-23 win over the Giants.

Brady and the Bucs endured a slow start but picked things up after halftime. The quarterback found long-time target Rob Gronkowski for a three-yard touchdown midway through the third, then took the lead again with an eight-yard score to Mike Evans in the fourth. In doing so, Brady brought his season touchdown tally to 20 while going a fourth straight game without an interception. With three consecutive wins as well, Brady is in stellar form ahead of Sunday's night's showdown against Drew Brees and the Saints.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Racks up four TD passes in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 33 of 45 passes for 369 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 45-20 win over the Raiders on Sunday. He also scored a one-yard rushing touchdown on his only carry.

Brady was masterful in putting together his second 369-yard effort of the campaign, completing a season-best 73.3 percent of his attempts in the process. The future Hall of Famer spread the wealth Sunday, hitting Rob Gronkowski, Scotty Miller, Chris Godwin and Tyler Johnson from five, 33, four and one yard, respectively, for his quartet of scoring throws. Prior to his aerial assault, he opened the scoring for the Buccaneers with his one-yard sneak to cap off a 10-play, 77-yard first-quarter drive. Brady won't yet have the services of Antonio Brown (suspension) in a Week 8 Monday night, Nov. 2 matchup against the Giants, but given how he's proven capable of thriving with his existing weapons when they're at full strength, the fantasy ceiling for the 21-year veteran and the Tampa offense in general may be virtually limitless if the mercurial receiver lives up to his stellar on-field reputation.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Gets maintenance day
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady isn't practicing Wednesday, but the team confirmed his lack of participation isn't related to injury, Jenna Laine of reports.

A Brady absence of any kind is naturally newsworthy, but Laine's report assuages any fears of the future Hall of Famer being beset by injury. Brady is coming off his lowest passing yardage total of the season (166) in a win over the Packers, but one that was complemented by two touchdowns and no interceptions in a comfortable 38-10 win for the Buccaneers.

October 18, 2020 10:56 PM
Buccaneers' Tom Brady: Quiet day in big win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brady completed 17 of 27 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Packers.

The highly anticipated shootout between Brady and Aaron Rodgers never materialized as the Bucs' defense ended up dominating the game. Brady still tossed multiple TD passes for the fourth time in six games even though Tampa spent most of the second half running the ball and chewing up clock, and he'll take a strong 14:4 TD:INT into Week 7's trip to Las Vegas.
