As expected, Brady wasn't in attendance during Thursday's OTAs, the Boston Herald reports.
The Patriots' current workouts are voluntary, so this nugget isn't really concerning, especially given Brady's year-round dedication to nutrition and conditioning. In his absence, added QB reps are available for Brian Hoyer, Danny Etling and rookie Jarrett Stidham. Once Brady does take the field with his teammates, he won't have tight end Rob Gronkowski, who retired this offseason, to throw to. Newcomers looking to fill the void created by Gronkowski's departure are Benjamin Watson, Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Matt LaCosse. Meanwhile, Brady's top target last year, Julian Edelman, just signed a contract extension and the team welcomes first-rounder N'Keal Harry to the pass-catching fold. Beyond that, the team's wideout depth chart is fluid, with the likes of Dontrelle Inman, Phillip Dorsett, Maurice Harris, Braxton Berrios and Demaryius Thomas (Achilles') -- when healthy -- looking to secure roles in the Patriots offense. Additionally, Josh Gordon remains suspended indefinitely. Brady turns 42 in August, but he shows no signs of slowing down after leading the Patriots to a win in Super Bowl LIII, on the heels of a 2018 regular season in which threw for 4,355 yards, while logging a 29:11 TD:INT ratio.
Brady isn't expected to participate in voluntary team workouts this offseason, ESPN.com's Mike Reiss reports.
Brady often attended the entire offseason program earlier in his career, but he waited for the start of mandatory minicamp (June 5) to report last year. The late start ultimately had no impact on his success, with the 41-year-old throwing for 4,355 yards and 29 touchdowns en route to the usual first-round bye and a sixth Super Bowl victory. Brady faces a challenge in 2019 with Rob Gronkowski retiring, as the quarterback had a 115.0 passer rating on throws to his star tight end the past five seasons. The Patriots haven't made any splashy signings to replace the future Hall of Famer, but they did add some depth in the form of tight end Matt LaCosse and wide receivers Bruce Ellington and Maurice Harris. The upcoming draft should bring more help. Plus, the team still hopes to eventually get something out of Josh Gordon (suspension).
Brady completed 21 of 35 passes for 262 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in the Patriots' 13-3 win over the Rams in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday. He also lost two yards on two rushes and fumbled once, but it was recovered by the offense.
It won't go down as the most aesthetically pleasing of his many Super Bowl appearances by any stretch, but Brady, unsurprisingly, made key passes when it counted most. He struggled early in the game, getting intercepted on New England's first possession and then losing the ball on a sack later in the first quarter. That fumble was recovered by the offense, however, and Brady took care of the ball from that point forward. Then, he led scoring marches of five and nine plays in the fourth quarter, with the former featuring a perfect 29-yard touch pass down the left sideline to Rob Gronkowski to take the ball down to the two-yard line. Brady also had a barrage of key completions to Julian Edelman throughout the contest, despite facing heavy pressure from the Rams all evening long. Brady now has a record six Super Bowl rings, and given that he'd already ruled out any chance of retirement prior to Sunday's game, he'll start working toward a seventh when OTAs kick off this spring.
Brady said Sunday in an interview with ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington that he doesn't intend to retire after the Patriots' Super Bowl LIII matchup with the Rams.
Brady will of course reserve the right to change his mind regardless of the outcome of his ninth Super Bowl appearance, but for the moment, the 41-year-old isn't thinking of ending his Hall of Fame career while he continues to play at a high level. Even in a relative down season -- his 29 touchdown passes were his fewest in a 16-game slate since 2013 -- Brady still capably directed a potent New England offense to a 10th straight AFC East title and a third consecutive conference championship. He'll look to add a sixth ring to his ledger this weekend in Atlanta.
Brady completed 30 of 46 pass attempts for 348 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions during Sunday's 37-31 AFC Championship Game overtime win over the Chiefs.
Brady completed 65 percent of his passes, but he was mainly limited to shorter gains and finished averaging 7.6 yards per attempt. He also threw a pair of inopportune interceptions, including one in the end zone on the second drive of the game. Brady completed a touchdown pass to Phillip Dorsett just before halftime, giving him a 2:2 TD:INT over two playoff games. He has benefited from outstanding contributions from the running game, but he should be forced to shoulder more of the load in the Super Bowl against a Rams team that has defended the run at a high level.
Brady completed 34 of 44 passes for 343 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-28 divisional-round win over the Chargers.
New England's offense was nearly unstoppable in the first half, as a combination of efficient dinking and dunking -- coupled with some Chargers penalties on third down -- led to five touchdowns on the home team's first six drives. Unfortunately for Brady's owners in playoff pools, four of those five scores came on the ground. The Patriots continued to mix in passes while nursing a large second-half lead, allowing Brady to easily eclipse 300 yards through the air. Expect strong numbers from him in what promises to be a high-scoring AFC championship game matchup in Kansas City next week.
Brady, who had been managing a knee issue, benefited from the Patriots' bye week in advance of Sunday's divisional-round playoff contest against the Chargers, NFL.com reports.
Per the report, Brady previously dealt with an MCL sprain for a few weeks, but he's healed now and healthy heading into Sunday's game. The 41-year-old QB finished up the 2018 regular season with 4,355 passing yards and a 29:11 TD:INT ratio. Having shed his knee concern, Brady is now looking to help the Patriots advance to the AFC Championship Game for the eighth consecutive time.
Brady completed 24 of 33 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 38-3 win over the Jets. He finishes the regular season with 4,355 yards and a 29:11 touchdown to interception ratio.
Brady's team was in control throughout in a game they needed to win to secure a first-round bye. He comes up short of the 30-touchdown mark for just the third time in the past nine seasons, but fantasy owners who invested in Brady on draft day largely got what they were expecting from him. Owners in dynasty formats should start lining up alternatives for the 41-year-old, though, as Father Time could lend a critical blow at any moment.
Brady said Wednesday that he plans to continue his career into 2019 and beyond, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. "I have goals to not only play next year, but beyond that," Brady said in his weekly interview on Westwood One. "I'm going to try to do it as best I possibly can. I'm going to give it everything I have, like I always have."
Brady has been consistent about his desire to play well into his 40s and isn't going to change his mind after a rough couple of weeks. He downplayed the significance of a knee injury that landed him on the injury report Weeks 12 through 14, saying he isn't dealing with anything beyond the normal bumps and bruises that come standard with life in the NFL. He has a good chance to finish his regular season on a high note, with New England playing host to the Jets in Week 17. A victory ensures the Patriots of a first-round bye, while a loss could drop them as low as No. 4 in the AFC seeding.
Brady wouldn't confirm that he was dealing with an injury when asked Monday on the "Mut & Callahan" radio program on WEEI Boston if he was nursing a partially torn MCL in his knee, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports. "I'm not getting into specifics of any injuries," Brady said. "It just doesn't make any sense."
After a dominant showing against the Dolphins in Week 14, Brady's performance has regressed over the past two contests, with the veteran signal-caller completing only 63.3 percent of his passes for 6.8 yards per attempt and a 2:3 TD:INT over that span. With New England establishing an early lead in Sunday's 24-12 win over the Bills, the team followed a run-heavy game plan, which contributed to Brady turning in season lows in completions, attempts and passing yardage. It's unclear if any undisclosed injury is at the root of his struggles, but Brady said Monday he's "ready to go" for the Week 17 matchup with the Jets, so he doesn't appear to be at much risk of missing action in any case. The Patriots could elect to limit Brady's usage in practices this week, however, so don't be surprised if he pops up on the team's injury report once Wednesday arrives.
Brady completed 13 of 24 passes for 126 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 24-12 win over Buffalo.
Brady couldn't get much going against the stout Buffalo secondary, as he had just 73 yards and two interceptions on his first 18 throws before finding Julian Edelman for a 32-yard touchdown on fourth down with 5:05 left in the third quarter. With a first-round bye hanging in the balance, look for Brady to step up at home against the Jets in Week 17.
Brady completed 25 of 36 passes for 279 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the Patriots' 17-10 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
Although his final line was certainly solid save for his one interception, Brady couldn't put together one of his trademark late-game comebacks against a Steelers defense that stiffened when it mattered most. The future Hall of Famer gave up the ball on downs on the Patriots' final drive, throwing three straight incompletions -- a fourth was nullified by a New England penalty -- from Pittsburgh's 21-yard line. Prior to that series, Brady suffered an interception on an uncharacteristically careless throw off his back foot from the Steelers' 16-yard line and the Patriots down only four. Needless to say, the fourth-quarter stumbles were a rarity for Brady, and he'll look to bounce back in a divisional rematch against the stingy Bills secondary at home in Week 16.
Brady has "zero concern" with regard to the knee issue that has had him listed on the Patriots' injury report at times over the last three weeks, NESN's Mike Cole reports.
Brady briefly needed medical attention during Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, but he didn't miss a snap in the game and downplayed the issue afterward. "I think my knee brace just grabbed, and it dug in the wrong spot," the QB noted Monday. "There's no concern." Though the Patriots lost in improbable last-play fashion in Week 14, Brady did his part, throwing for a season-high 358 yards and tossing three TDs versus zero picks. He'll look to help his team get back on the winning track in this weekend's road game against the Steelers, who have dropped three straight contests.
Brady completed 27 of 43 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns during Sunday's 34-33 loss to the Dolphins.
Brady broke out of his second-half slump in a big way Sunday, amassing a season-high output in passing yardage while compiling three touchdown passes for the first time since Oct. 21 (four touchdown passes over his previous five games combined entering Week 14). It's been a brutal stretch for those who invested an early-round selection in Brady, as he finished outside of the top 15 quarterbacks in standard scoring formats over each of his past five games entering Sunday, with an average finish of QB18 over that span (Weeks 8 to 13). It's a tough remaining slate for the fantasy postseason, starting with a matchup against Pittsburgh's top-10 pass defense in Week 15 (228.5 yards allowed per game).
Brady (knee) has been removed from the Patriots' Week 14 injury report, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports.
Brady is thus good to go for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. The veteran QB's overall stats aren't eye-popping; his 3,342 passing yards in 12 games are ninth in the league, but Brady -- who has logged a 20:8 TD:INT ratio in that span -- maintains a decent enough fantasy floor while helming a well-coached offense with a variety of capable pass-catching weapons.
Brady (knee) logged a limited practice Wednesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Brady is in no danger of missing Sunday's game against the Dolphins, and there's a decent chance that he won't carry an injury designation for that contest once the Patriots' final Week 14 injury report is released Friday.
Brady completed 24 of 32 pass attempts for 311 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Sunday's 24-10 win over the Vikings.
Brady completed 75 percent of his passes and connected with nine different receivers while averaging a healthy 9.3 yards per attempt. He threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Josh Gordon to go ahead in the third quarter, but he nearly helped Minnesota back into the game by throwing an interception on the next drive. Brady could've enjoyed a better day, but the Patriots chose to hand off to James Develin for a pair of short touchdowns, rather than attack via the pass. The veteran now has just four touchdown passes over the last five games and has seen his fantasy stock take a hit due to his team's propensity for running the ball in the red zone. He'll look to bounce back next Sunday against the Dolphins.
Brady (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Vikings, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Tight end Dwayne Allen, who won't play due to a knee issue, is the only player listed on the Patriots' unusually light Week 13 injury report. The Patriots also removed Rob Gronkowski (back/ankle) from their report, which should provide a boon to Brady's fantasy outlook for the second straight week. While there's no doubt regarding Brady's status for Sunday's contest, the Vikings' rugged defense poses a less-than-ideal matchup for the veteran signal-caller.
Brady (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.
Though Brady's practice reps were capped for the second day in a row, there doesn't appear to be any major concern about his availability for Sunday's game against the Vikings. That said, Brady may need to register a full practice Friday to avoid an injury designation heading into the weekend. The matchup with a Minnesota defense that shut down Aaron Rodgers and company a week earlier isn't a great one, though Brady's fantasy prospects would improve if the Vikings' top cornerback, Xavier Rhodes (hamstring) is unavailable. Minnesota will also be down another one of its secondary starters in safety Andrew Sendejo (groin), who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week.
Brady (knee) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday, Ben Volin of The Boston Globe reports.
Brady was also limited at practice last week with the same issue in addition to an illness. He moved past both concerns to start and lead the Patriots to a 27-13 win over the Jets over the weekend. With no known setbacks in the contest, it's assumed that he'll be good to go for the Patriots' Week 13 game against the Vikings.
