Zylstra was claimed off waivers by Carolina on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Zylstra failed to latch on with the Vikings, and after he was cut by the team Sunday, was quickly picked up by another squad. He faces a tough battle for snaps and targets with proven veterans ahead of him in Carolina, but could be an injury or two away from making an impact in 2019.
Zylstra was waived by the Vikings on Saturday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Zylstra played in all 16 games for the Vikings a year ago, with his work coming almost exclusively on special teams. He ended the year with just a single reception for 23 yards. If he clears waivers he'll be a free agent and could get an opportunity on a practice squad.
Zylstra had five receptions for 37 yards, including a four-yard touchdown, in Sunday's preseason win over Seattle.
Zylstra is battling for one of the final spots on the roster as a reserve receiver and special teams player and had a strong game which drew praise from the coaching staff. Chad Beebe appears set to win the No. 3 receiver role, but Zylstra is in the mix with Jordan Taylor, Jeff Badget and Bisi Johnson. However, the secondary options in the Minnesota passing game haven't had much fantasy value with almost all the targets going to Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.
Zylstra (hamstring) was activated off the PUP list and returned to practice Monday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Zylstra suffered the left hamstring injury during the Vikings' minicamp, but it only ended up costing him a few days of training camp. The 26-year-old played in all 16 games last season and figures to work primarily on special teams if he cracks the 53-man roster this year.
The Vikings placed Zylstra (hamstring) on the PUP list Friday, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Morgan is dealing with a left hamstring injury sustained during Minnesota's minicamp, according to Krammer. The 26-year-old is competing for a depth receiving and special-teams role, and he'll look to get healthy as soon as possible.
Zylstra appeared to tweak something during Tuesday's session and didn't practice Wednesday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
The specifics of Zylstra's injury aren't clear, but the issue is apparently enough of a concern to keep him sidelined for the rest of the week. Assuming the 26-year-old is back to full strength for training camp, he'll be one of several wideouts competing for a depth role behind starters Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.
Zylstra caught one of two targets for 23 yards in 16 games this season.
Zylstra also returned one kick for 15 yards and returned four punts for 26 yards as he saw more than one offensive snap in only three games in 2018. The former CFL wide receiver will look to gain an increased offensive role in 2019 as the Vikings received little production at wide receiver behind top targets Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.
Zylstra (undisclosed) is active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Zylstra was initially listed as questionable for Sunday's tilt against the Patriots, but will ultimately suit up without issue. He's expected to take most of his snaps on special teams.
Zylstra is listed as questionable for Sunday's Week 13 game against the Patriots with an undisclosed injury, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Zylstra has been handed the questionable tag, but he isn't actually listed with an injury. The 25-year-old has played eight offensive snaps this season, so the Vikings offense is unlikely to impacted by the 25-year-old's uncertainty for Sunday.
