Libor Sulak: Signs overseas
Sulak signed a one-year contract with Severstal Cherepovets of the KHL on Tuesday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Sulak spent the majority of the 2018-19 campaign with AHL Grand Rapids, notching five goals and 14 points while posting a minus-7 rating in 61 games. The 25-year-old blueliner got a brief look with the big club, going scoreless while registering a minus-4 rating in six appearances, but he clearly wasn't a part of the Red Wings' plans for the future. Sulak will likely spend the rest of his professional playing career overseas.

Red Wings' Libor Sulak: Likely bound for Europe
Sulak is expected to take his talents back to Europe for the 2019-20 season, Ansar Khan of Mlive.com reports.
The left-shot defenseman from the Czech Republic appeared in six NHL games this season, but he went minus-4 over that span and didn't seem entirely comfortable at hockey's highest level. Further complicating matters for Sulak is that at least Filip Hronek and Madison Bowey are ahead of him on the organizational depth chart.

Red Wings' Libor Sulak: Sent to AHL
Sulak was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Sulak won a spot on the Opening Night roster, and his ascension was likely based on merit as much as it was necessitated by a litany of injuries to Detroit's blue-line corps. The Czech skater turned heads at the IIHF World Championship in June and it was no different in the preseason, though Sulak ended up struggling with a minus-4 rating over six scoreless appearances at the top level. We do like Sulak's chances of making a fantasy impact in the long run, but for now, he'll bide his time in the minors since the Red Wings will get veteran blueliner Trevor Daley (lower body) back from injury for Thursday's road clash with the Lightning.

Red Wings' Libor Sulak: Playing assertively
Sulak has fashioned three blocked shots and 11 hits through his first three NHL contests.
Sulak turned pro with AHL Grand Rapids last season, but the Czech defenseman only drew into a pair of minor-league contests to get his feet wet. Here he is now, averaging 20:27 of ice time at the top level, attempting to shore up a blue-line corps that has been decimated by injuries. Sulak, 24, has a wealth of experience playing in his home country, but he's technically an NHL rookie, so expect growing pains as he gets accustomed to the smaller rinks and a faster game in general.

Red Wings' Libor Sulak: Notches two helpers in preseason win
Sulak pitched in a pair of assists Thursday in a 4-2 preseason home win over the Blackhawks.
Sulak is among the favorites to win a spot on the 23-man roster to open the season. This performance obviously helps his chances of ascending to hockey's highest level, but Filip Hronek -- who had a power-play assist in this latest contest -- probably has different ideas. Perhaps the blue-line prospect race will see a wider gap closer to the start of the regular season.

Red Wings' Libor Sulak: Could win NHL job this fall
Sulak has a "very good chance" of making the Opening Night roster next season, according to Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill.
Blashill was thrilled with Sulak's overall performance at the IIHF World Championship -- he registered a game-winning, power-play goal on 22 shots to complement a pair of assists -- in May and the bench boss openly said that the Wings will be a drastically different team this coming season after two straight years of mediocrity and missing out on the playoffs. Sulak will compete with the likes of Filip Hronek and Joe Hicketts for a roster spot, and this picture will become more clear when it's officially determined whether Mike Green -- a pending unrestricted free agent -- will be sticking around.

Red Wings' Libor Sulak: Preparing for World Championship
Sulak will be with the Czech team for the World Championship in Denmark from May 4-20, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Sulak, who's a touted Red Wings prospect, spent 42 of 44 games playing for the Pelicans of SM-liiga of the Finish Elite league in 2017-18. The 24-year-old recorded nine goals, 23 assists and a plus-5 rating in that foreign league and also chipped in a pair of assists over a two-game stint with AHL Grand Rapids, which was eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs Monday. Sulak went undrafted and is 24 years old, but the Wings have a dearth of capable scorers from the blue line, so we might see him in the NHL this coming season.

Red Wings' Libor Sulak: Bound for AHL
Sulak was assigned to AHL Grand Rapids from the Lahti Pelicans of the Finnish Elite League on Friday,
Sulak signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Red Wings last May, only for the blue-line prospect to spend the majority of this 2017-18 campaign overseas. He produced nine goals, 23 assists and 66 PIM for the Pelicans through 42 games. Detroit desperately needs more puck-moving blueliners, so we'd expect him to compete for a job at the highest level in training camp next fall.
