MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Jacoby Ross scored 20 points and the go-ahead free throws, Reginald Gee added 17 points with four 3-pointers, and Alabama State blew a 20-point halftime lead but regained it late and held off Alabama A&M 70-67 on Saturday night.

Trailing 48-28 at the break, the Bulldogs rallied to tie it at 65 on Julian Walters' free throw with 2:42 left, then led 67-66 on Arthur Johnson's free throws. Alabama State retook the lead on Ross' pair of foul shots with 1:14 left and the Hornets iced it with two more from the line from there.

Alabama State made 10 first-half 3 pointers and held the Bulldogs to 28 percent shooting from the floor and looked headed for a blow-out win.

Branden Johnson scored 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Hornets (3-14, 3-2 Southwest Athletic Conference), who shot 22.7 percent from the floor in the second half.

De'Ederick Petty scored 13 points with four assists, Johnson added 12 points and Jalen Reeder scored 10 for the Bulldogs (2-16, 2-3).
