Remember Jack Taylor -- the dude who scored 138 points in a game last season?
He didn't match that on Sunday.
But the Grinnell College guard did score 109 points in a 173-123 win over Crossroads, meaning he's now eclipsed the 100-point mark twice in less than a year.
Taylor's 138-point performance came on Nov. 20, 2012. He now owns three of the top five scoring performances in the history of Division III basketball. That list looks like this:
- 138: Jack Taylor (2012-13)
- 109: Jack Taylor (2013-14)
- 89: Griffin Lentsch (2012-13)
- 77: Jeff Clement (1997-98)
- 71: Jack Taylor (2013-14)
As you can tell from the list, this is actually Taylor's second big effort this season. He had 71 points in Friday's opener, meaning Taylor is now averaging 90.0 points per game. Taylor was 35-of-70 from the field on Sunday. He made 24 of 48 3-point attempts.
