Dolphins' AJ Henning: Gets reserve/future deal with Phins
Miami signed Henning to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.
Henning spent the entire 2025 season on the Dolphins' practice squad, and he was never called upon to suit up for a regular-season game. He's fully served the two-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy he received early December, and will now spend the offseason competing for a depth role with Miami.

Henning was suspended was handed a suspension by the NFL on Thursday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Henning has spent the entirety of the season on Miami's practice squad, and he'll now be sidelined for an undisclosed amount of time. It's unclear what infraction the wide receiver committed, but his absence naturally won't make a major impact on the Dolphins.

Henning couldn't secure a spot on the Dolphins' final 53-man roster for 2025, but he'll stick with them as a member of the practice squad. It would likely take multiple injuries to Miami's receivers for Henning to see regular-season action this year.

The Dolphins waived Henning on Tuesday.
The undrafted rookie out of Northwestern entered training camp gunning for a depth spot on the Dolphins' 53-man roster, but he didn't do much to separate himself from the competition after logging three catches (on six targets) for 34 yards across three games. Assuming he clears waivers, Henning is a candidate to stick around in Miami as a member of the Dolphins' practice squad.

Dolphins' AJ Henning: Plays in preseason finale
Henning played 10 offensive snaps and three on special teams in Saturday's 14-6 preseason win over the Jaguars.
Henning appeared to suffer a serious injury Thursday after he was carted off the field and spotted on crutches. However, he was able to get back on the field quickly and made his primary impact on special teams, logging one punt return for 18 yards.

Dolphins' AJ Henning: Needs crutches after injury
Henning (undisclosed) was carted off the practice field Thursday and then needed crutches to move around, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Henning was already unlikely to make Miami's 53-man roster, but Thursday's injury could shut the door completely if it leads to additional missed time. He signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern in April.
