Astros' Bligh Madris: Designated for assignment

Madris was designated for assignment by the Astros on Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for Jon Singleton, who has been selected from Triple-A Sugar Land. Madris, 27, has appeared in only 12 major-league games this season with Houston.
