Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Will start Tuesday
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that McGreevy will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis to start Tuesday against the Cubs at Busch Stadium, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
McGreevy will pick up his third start of the season with the Cardinals and his second in less than a week after he most recently pitched last Thursday, when he took a no-decision in the second game of a doubleheader against the White Sox after allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out five over five innings. Because he was designated as the 27th man for the twin bill before being optioned to Triple-A on Friday, McGreevy will be eligible to rejoin the Cardinals early without having to wait 15 days. The Cardinals aren't expected to have an opening in the rotation for McGreevy beyond Tuesday, so he could be sent back to Memphis again following the start.
