Daniel Brito: Signs with Atlantic League team

Brito signed a contract Thursday with the Charleston Dirty Birds of the independent Atlantic League, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Brito is officially back in pro ball less than two years after suffering an on-field brain hemorrhage while playing in a game for the Triple-A affiliate of the Phillies on July 31, 2021. He is only 25 years old and might eventually get another shot with a major-league organization, but for now he'll play in independent ball.
