Giants' Hunter Pence: Officially hits DL

Pence (hamstring) was officially placed on the DL on Thursday, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

The Giants all but made the announcement Wednesday night, but the move did not become official until Thursday morning. The outfielder, who played through the injury for several weeks, is set to undergo further tests, but the Giants did not sound optimistic that he'd be back any time soon. With Angel Pagan already on the DL with a hamstring injury of his own, San Francisco recalled Mac Williamson to provide aid to a depleted outfield rotation.
