Giants' Hunter Pence: Set to debut Friday

Pence (Achilles) is expected to make his spring training debut Friday, Andrew Baggarly of the Bay Area News Group reports.

According to Baggarly, Pence did not appear to be bothered by his sore Achilles on Tuesday and even pushed to make his debut Wednesday when the Giants take on the Rockies. However, Manager Bruce Bochy will likely hold Pence out for a few more days with the intention of putting him in the lineup this weekend against the Mariners. Pence was initially expected to miss just a few days due to Achilles tendinitis but has gone one to miss nearly two weeks.
