Major League Baseball issued Smith a 10-game suspension Wednesday for a violation of the foreign substance policy, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Smith received the suspension after he was ejected from his relief appearance in Tuesday's game versus the Yankees. He won't appeal the suspension and will begin serving the ban Wednesday. Smith will be eligible to rejoin the Mets' 26-man active roster June 26.
