The Reds released Ford on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Postreports.
The 31-year-old was informed Friday that he hadn't made Cincinnati's Opening Day roster, so the organization granted his release. Ford clubbed 16 homers in 84 games for Seattle last season and is now looking for a new team.
