Goodrum was released Monday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Goodrum exercised the opt-out clause in his minor-league contract with the Red Sox. The veteran utility player has been at Triple-A Worcester all season, where he's posted an .888 OPS with eight homers and seven steals. He won't have trouble finding a gig elsewhere, although it's not a given it will be a major-league deal.
