Pirates' Chase De Jong: Dropped from 40-man roster

The Pirates designated De Jong for assignment on Tuesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Outfielder Josh Palacios was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. De Jong, 29, had allowed 11 earned runs on 13 hits and five walks through 9.1 innings this season out of the Bucs bullpen.
