Cabrera was added to the Yankees' 40-man roster Friday, Eli Fishman of Pinstriped Pros reports.
Cabrera erased any doubt about this transaction by hitting .500 with five home runs in 36 plate appearances at Triple-A to close the season. He can play all over the infield and will likely return to Triple-A for the start of next season.
