Irving (not injury related) was placed into the league's health and safety protocol Saturday morning, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports.
Irving is the second player from the Nets to be placed in protocol Saturday morning, joining Kevin Durant. He is the ninth member of the Nets to be placed in the NBA's health and safety protocol. Irving was set to finally join the team for road games and could have made his season debut as early as next Thursday, but that now seems out of the question. It's unclear when he could potentially be cleared, as he will need five consecutive days of negative tests before he can rejoin the team at practice.
