An arbitrator reduced Alex Rodriguez's original 211-game suspension to 162 games Saturday. Rodriguez plans to continue his battle in federal court.

The 38-year-old Yankees third baseman received his original suspension in August due to his ties to the Biogenesis scandal -- 50 games for his first performance-enhancing drug offense and an additional 161 for interfering with MLB's investigation.

The new suspension also includes the 2014 postseason if New York makes it that far.

Rodriguez will seek an injunction on the ruling to continue the legal battle, though he's not likely to receive it. Earlier reports stated the Rodriguez camp would have accepted a suspension of 65 games or less without further legal wranlging.

The Yankees were reportedly waiting for this ruling to sign another third baseman. Since A-Rod's salary -- $25 million in 2014 -- will not count toward the team's payroll due to the suspension, the Yankees have money to use if they decide another third baseman is necessary.
