Alexi Ogando will start again for the Rangers, Texas general manager Jon Daniels said Friday on a conference call with reporters.

The team already has Yu Darvish, Derek Holland and Matt Harrison penciled in to the rotation, but even with Ogando starting, that leaves one spot the team will look to fill in free agency. The Rangers have reportedly made right-hander Zack Greinke their top target in free agency.

Ogando, 29, made 58 appearances out of the bullpen in 2012, going 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA and three saves. After debuting as a reliever in 2010, he spent 2011 in the rotation. The right-hander went 13-8 with a 3.51 ERA in 29 starts and two relief appearances. He stared the 2011 season 10-3 and was named to the All-Star team. He finished the season with two relief appearances before moving to the bullpen for the postseason. He made 13 appearances for the Rangers in the 2011 playoffs.

In the recent past, the Rangers have had a surplus of starting pitching, but that's no longer the case. Closer-turned-starter Neftali Feliz had Tommy John surgery in August, and if he is able to return in 2013, he'll likely be in the bullpen. Colby Lewis had surgery on a torn flexor tendon and won't start throwing off a mound until spring training.

Greinke is the top pitcher available on the market and is expected to draw plenty of interest on the open market. Not only will the Rangers be interested, but the Dodgers and Angels are also seen as likely front-runners for his services.
