Braves hitting coach Greg Walker has stepped down, the team announced. There is no word on his replacement yet.
The Braves missed the postseason this year and had their first losing season (79-83) since 2008 due mostly to their offense -- they averaged only 3.54 runs per game, second lowest in baseball (Padres, 3.30). Their team 87 OPS+ was fourth worst.
Walker, 54, had been the team's hitting coach since 2012. He held the same position with the White Sox from 2003-11 and helped them to the 2005 World Series title.
The Braves fired GM Frank Wren recently and have yet to hire a permanent replacement. Once that happens, the coaching staff will presumably be sorted out.
