Braves pitcher Dan Winkler breaks his arm while throwing a pitch
We've seen it before, but it doesn't happen often. Braves pitcher Dan Winkler broke his arm while throwing a pitch on Sunday.
Seeing a pitcher break his arm while simply throwing a pitch is one of the more jarring things to witness in Major League Baseball. It harkens to mind the likes of Dave Dravecky, Tom Browning, Tony Saunders et al and each time it is rather gruesome.
Sunday, it happened again. Braves reliever Dan Winkler fractured his elbow while throwing a pitch. MLB.com has the video if interested. It's actually not as gruesome as the names mentioned above, but Winkler is in obvious pain and you have to feel for the kid.

The Braves have announced simply that Winkler did indeed fracture his elbow and that he's out indefinitely. At least this entire season is a good bet.
Winkler, 26, was appearing in just his fifth MLB game. He had yet to allow a run this season in 2 1/3 innings.
As for the Braves, the hits just keep on coming. They lost to the Cardinals, 12-7, and have started the season 0-5.
