Brewers infielder Eilan Herrera has racked up nine hits, one home run and six RBI in 27 at-bats this spring, but his performance might not be enough to earn him a spot on the team's initial 25-man roster, the Journal Sentinel reports.
"It’s a battle," Herrera said. "I know everybody has to fight for a spot here and that’s why I don’t try to think too much. I just try to enjoy the game and do the best I can. I try to control what I can and in the end just pray and then we’ll see. I cannot worry about what might happen and then go and try to do more than I can. Just try to work hard every day and get better and better and we’ll see at the end of the spring."
Herrera, who does not have a spot on the 40-man roster, is battling Luis Jimenez and Hector Gomez for a utility role.
