Carlos Gonzalez to undergo exploratory surgery Tuesday

Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez will undergo exploratory surgery on his left index finger Tuesday, the team announced.

Earlier this month, Gonzalez told reporters that doctors had informed him that something was in the injured finger that wasn't supposed to be there. The injury caused him to be removed early from multiple games before ultimately being placed on the disabled list. Ideally, Tuesday's operation will give Gonzalez a clearer timetable on his recovery.
