Scott Boras! He's one of the most important figures in the post-free agency era of baseball history, and he's widely reviled by rank-and-file fans for being very good at his job. In matters related, his last name lends itself to hackneyed and unimaginative message-board puns!

It so happens, though, that Boras was a pretty fair ballplayer back in his day. In fact, he was an All-American and team captain at the University of the Pacific (alma mater of Chase Headley!) before being tabbed as a third-round draft choice by the Cardinals in 1975.

From there, Boras went on to play parts of four minor-league seasons for the Cards and Cubs, and he made it as high as the Double-A level before injuries took their toll. Along the way, Boras, primarily manning second and third, batted .288/.390/.374 with 18 homers in 374 games. That's a darn good OBP!

In conclusion, Scott Boras was almost certainly better at baseball than you!
