Mariners second baseman Dustin Ackley has had trouble with left-handed pitching this season, hitting just .192/.222/.192 in 27 plate appearances. Last season, he actually performed better against lefties than righties, but has been unable to carry that relative success over to this season.
Ackley has batted seventh and eighth for most of this season, though he did hit fifth in his most recent start Wednesday.
