Mariners starting pitcher Mike Montgomery will stay on turn and start Sunday against the Athletics, manager Lloyd McClendon said Friday. Montgomery's next start was in jeopardy with Hisashi Iwakuma ready to come off the disabled list.
Montgomery has done well since joining the Mariners rotation in early June. He has allowed more than two runs just once in six starts and has thrown back-to-back shutouts in his last two starts.
