On Sunday, the Marlins announced that they have agreed to terms with manager Mike Redmond on a contract extension through the 2017 season. Financial details were not released. The team also announced that Remond's entire coaching staff will return for 2015.
Redmond, 43, has a 139-184 (.430) record after two seasons in the Miami dugout. Even with a loss on Sunday (WAS 1, MIA 0), the Marlins this season will have improved their record by 15 games versus 2013. Redmond's ability to work with young players during this deep rebuild and to keep his underdog team in the mix for much of 2014 make this an easy decision for the Marlins.
