Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker picked up a win in a relief role Monday, giving up two earned runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings while striking out two in his team's 5-2 victory over the Blue Jays.

Shoemaker (7-2) threw 102 pitches in a start last Thursday and was not expected to pitch again until this Thursday, but an injury to Monday starter Jered Weaver caused the team to call upon the righty, who lasted 61 pitches in the relief outing. Shoemaker owns a 4.38 ERA and 62:15 K:BB ratio in 63 2/3 innings. The team will turn to another pitcher for Thursday's game, with Hector Santiago a logical choice for the start.
