If there's one certainty in this world, it's that Miguel Batista will always find a job. The 41-year-old -- originally signed by the Expos in 1988 --  has signed a minor-league contract with the Braves.

Batista has been signed "to add some depth for us, just in case," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez (Associated Press). Batista has been assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Atlanta will be Batista's 11th different franchise and 12th different team (he pitched for both the Expos and Nationals). In parts of 18 seasons in the big leagues, the right-hander has pitched for the Pirates, Marlins, Cubs, Expos, Royals, Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, Mariners, Nationals, Cardinals and Mets.

The Mets released him on Thursday after he appeared in 30 games, including five starts, going 1-3 with a 4.82 ERA. Batista then cleared waivers Friday, giving the Braves the chance to sign him.

Batista is 102-115 with a 4.49 ERA in 653 career games, which includes 248 starts.
