The Padres have agreed to terms with Mississippi State outfielder Hunter Renfroe, who was their top pick and the 13th overall choice of the recent MLB draft.
Renfroe and the Padres have agreed to a signing bonus of $2.678 million, as reported by Jim Callis of Baseball America.
Renfroe is coming off a junior season in which he batted .352/.440/.634 and hit 15 home runs against generally stiff SEC competition. He also helped guide the Bulldogs deep into the 2013 College World Series. Coming into the draft, Baseball America tabbed Renfroe as the 11th-ranked prospect.
The deadline for draftee signings is 5 p.m. ET, July 12.
